I've had another 2 of his colleagues treat me when he was off, and have had excellent care by them as well. Still, not naming names. They have physical therapy here as well. I finally went to my PCP, who sent me for physical therapy. I was a little skeptical as it seemed like something elastic had torn in my shoulder but followed through. I initially tried to set up my appointment with another physical therapy office in Irwin, however that office never returned my call after speaking to their receptionist, so I found the PtGroup therapy was just located further down the road. I was rather anxious not knowing what to expect, as I always am. I also didn't know that I belonged in physical therapy as so many people seem worse off than me. The kind physical therapist, Bob, was beyond patient with me-and my air-headedness. (He truly was a breath of fresh air) He alleviated my qualms immediately, and I felt reassured. The staff Raji, who worked with me in the gym and Jen, who set up my appointments, were both friendly and personable. Within 3 sessions I was able to put my jacket without wincing. After 8 sessions I was able to wash my back again. Highly recommend.

Sure enough, x-rays that Dr. Ruggeri ordered confirmed that I was literally bone on bone for the knee, which he also stated verbatim to me. Throughout the visit I felt quite dismissed by him and very uncomfortable with the fact that he did not want to seem to listen to me. So he did give me a steroid injection for the knee I asked him for a short-term Supply of pain medication until we could see whether the steroid injection worked or not. He was adamant that he would not do this and when I tried to speak to him further about it my perception was that he was almost downright rude . I will not be returning to Western Pennsylvania Orthopedics. By the way I have already had three joint replacements and so I do have an idea of what's going on with my body .

I picked this office due…read moreto its close proximity to my house since I found riding in cars and really anything in general very uncomfortable. My surgery was no walk in the park and I knew my recovery wouldn't be either. However, I really have to sing the praises of this office. I have been to physical therapy several times in my life. I am that person that has broken something on every limb, or that limb period so I have seen my fair share of Therapists who go through the motions with you but are really just overworked, overbooked, understaffed, disinterested, or all the above. The staff at ESSMC have been rather exceptional. There definitely were times that I was being a real pill while attending therapy. But the staff would talk to me and keep me looking toward the positive. I especially like Marielle and John. They are both dedicated PT's that really work with you, and push you to go past your comfort zones. The technicians in this office are also very helpful and personable. If you need to visit a physical therapist and are in the area (they have several offices in the Eastern areas of Pittsburgh) I would highly recommend this establishment. I have come a LONG way since starting here and really have to thank them, along with my dearly patient and loving husband, for all the support and encouragement.

Let me explain. Andrew and his staff were excellent in caring for my needs. The problem was the price tag that came along with this care. The billing department associated with this practice leaves much to be desired. It started in with being told I had a zero copay, which by itself shame on me for not checking. However, I never received a bill until after my therapy was completed. 20 visits later totaling over fifteen hundred dollars!!! I must add I needed 10 additional treatments because the head PT misplaced my medication for my ionophoresis therapy-upon my initial visit. so my doctor prescribed 10 more treatments. I had never received a bill so I figured I would continue to go. Anyways once I got my first bill, post treatment, fifteen hundred dollars later, I called upset with the sticker shock. Of course blamed my insurance and slow payments and coordination of billing process but needless to say felt taken advantage. Received a voicemail from head PT with not even a true apology!!! Needless to say won't be back because of and be careful as a new patient for what your signing on for financially!!!
