The church's first pastor was abusive to several of us and refused to listen to our admonitions. He…read moreleft behind a board of deacons that was more loyal to him than to Christ and His Word. I myself tried to go through the Matthew 18 process of reconciling with someone who sins against you, but the deacons were the pastor's yes-men. They turned the meeting against me, while the pastor falsely accused me and berated me with put-downs and insults instead of pastoring. If the deacons had believed the Bible, they and the associate pastor would have recognized that the pastor was not biblically qualified to be an elder: He was pugnacious and not forbearing, disqualifying traits for eldership, and the deacons supported him nonetheless. Those deacons made a show of believing the Bible but the pastor was their real authority. I hope the church's new pastor has a better effect on the church than the abusive pastor and "his" deacons did. The teaching was good, but the pastor didn't know how to pastor and treated the church as a military unit rather than as a family. He was a sergeant in the army and saw almost everything through a military lens with himself instead of Christ at the top. His anger simmered just below the surface, and that may have been the reason people who visited the church seldom stayed. People leaving was a concern of the church leaders, and the pastor's demeanor, which the deacons refused to address, may have been the reason for it. I wonder how long it will be before the deacons start serving Christ instead of whoever their pastor is.

Our babysitter attends the church and I believe there's a traditional service in the morning and then a contemporary service in the afternoon. My review is mainly on their preschool program. I absolutely LOVE Peace's Preschool program! The program itself is wonderful! I appreciate everything that the director (Jill Kilgor) and the staff do for the children. Everyone is so attentive, caring, and kind! I appreciate the various events and trips throughout the year for the children as well! In the fall, there's a field trip to a pumpkin patch. In the winter, there's a Christmas program that the kids are in. There's a bring your parent/buddy day on Mother's and Father's Day (celebrated early). In the spring, there's an art show. Everything is so organized and well put together. I love it. The church also has great events as well. We attended trunk or treat a couple months ago and that was so fun! The church had a bouncy house, face painting, a bonfire and s'mores station, a hayride, and trunk or treating in the parking lot where everyone had decorated their trunks in Halloween decor. I cannot say enough great things about Peace! Thank you everyone for all that you do for our children and the community!
