Fake karate and a scam First of all, I'd like to get into…read morethe scam part first. Once your child gets into the blue/red belt classes, the dojo will tell you that if you want to continue classes you'll be placed on a payment plan of $15,000 to guarantee your child a blackbelt. In any legitimate martial arts class, it would NEVER cost you this much. Second of all, as a practitioner of traditional karate, I'm offended by this Dojo Karate chain. Their teachings aren't REAL karate and unauthentic (either they're teaching Taekwondo and advertising it as karate which is insulting or they're teaching just fake martial arts all together). They don't even know what the word 'karate' actually means and gave out false information about it! Classes are only for a couple hours a week for way too much money. Plus a payment plan for a blackbelt?? In the real world of karate, it generally takes atleast ten years of experience and a payment plan is pretty much buying a blackbelt which ruins the whole concept of it all and is quite unprofessional. Many of the things they teach is way too showy e.g. focusing on learning how to break a wooden board, and too much play without even teaching any real karate.
