Master Janssen gave us an immediate positive first impression with his friendly demeanor, and we are proud to support his family business (he runs the school with his wife Jay) being that he is an Army veteran. Other than vacation, my kids have spent the whole summer going to the camp, which has included agility and conditioning drills at least three times a week, daily Tae Kwon Do class, and daily field trips (Bowlero, movies, nature hikes in various PBC parks, Rapids water park, and Chuck E Cheese). It has been the perfect mix of exercise, learning the important principles of self defense, respect, discipline, and confidence, and FUN! The more our family has gotten to know Master Janssen, the more we appreciate that he is friendly, but also firm and fair in the way he treats each student in order to get the best effort out of each of them. We are very excited to be enrolling the kids in the after school program, which includes transportation from school, designated homework time, and daily Tae Kwon Do class for children ages 5-11 (K-5th grade)! There is a $69/week promotion for the first month, and then they're offering sibling discounts so the first child will be $99/week, second child $89/week, and third child $79/week! Such a great value! The school also offers classes Monday through Saturday for kids, teens, adults, and families, and there are no belt testing fees! I feel that Tiger Spirit truly has something to offer for everyone, and I'm proud that my kids were the very first students to sign up when they opened their doors this summer. It has been really exciting to be a part of something new and we feel like a part of the Tiger Spirit family now. I would highly recommend this dojang to ANY family!

Both of our kids (6 + 8) started together, followed by my husband. They are learning much more than Tae Kwon Do (which is amazing on its own). They are learning the values of hard work, the importance of courtesy, discipline, and many more life lessons. Tiger Spirit has a high standard and expectations for all of their students - which is wonderful to see your children rise to meet those standards and expectations. My youngest learned one of the most important life lessons - how to persevere after a "failure". Master Janssen's phrases are now regular at home. "Do your best.", "Don't get frustrated, just get better." Tiger Spirit was truly a gift to my family with its summer camp program and then its virtual learning camp. I am thankful that they were able to adapt and provide families with this resource to help us all through the pandemic and distance learning.

I will start of by saying Taekwondo Athletic Center is my second home. After having experienced…read moreseveral taekwondo academies and coaches, I commit to making a 27 mile commute to attending TAC because that is how good the taekwondo program and coach are. I was pushed to join taekwondo as a kid even though I resisted, and little did I know I'd learn so many things that translate into the real world and it'd become a way of life/lifestyle for me. Master Juan Catalan is an experienced taekwondo coach, life coach, mentor, and he is a father as well. He is professional, respectful, and communicates effectively with parents and students. His teachings have not just made me physically stronger and have helped me overcome limits that I never knew were possible, but his teachings have also helped me become mentally stronger and overcome obstacles in the real world. He teaches his students respect, discipline, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and so many other things. The best part is he teaches his students how to translate all of these values, concepts, and characteristics into the real world so that his students, like myself, can grow to be strong and intellectual leaders. He encourages his students to be humble, work hard, and pursue their passions. He is capable of helping even the youngest of kids. Master Catalan also uses psychology to help students progress in their athletic and mental performance. With his guidance and your commitment, he can also help in molding you to become a competitive taekwondo athlete in both sparring (combat) and poomsae (forms). Most taekwondo coaches specialize in one thing, but he is extremely skilled and experienced in both core areas of taekwondo. Foot work techniques and drills are essential to taekwondo and Coach Catalan is always coming up with new and creative ways to help me and other students improve foot work. His classes are very unique and never repetitive unlike many other taekwondo programs and classes. He always encourages his students to have fun versus applying hardcore pressure and force, so students react very well to this method. He also doesn't do contracts unlike most taekwondo schools and has great pricing. Another distinction is his equipment is constantly replaced, does constant renovations, and he is extremely hygienic. So meanwhile most taekwondo academies smell like humidity and feet, his academy is spotless and odorless. Also keep in mind, he has the key to help you succeed in whatever you want to achieve, but he can't do the work for you.

I've been taking my two children here for two years now, and couldn't be happier. The amount of…read moreprogress they have both made with Sir shows the quality of training at TAC. They both love TAC, and taekwondo. Their coach is very sincere, and wants them to improve and work their best. TAC produces real results, and has been, and continues to be a great taekwondo school.

The self defense skills I learned were fantastic plus the great camaraderie with fellow attendees and training with Owners Matt and Christina was outstanding. I was a Purple belt in Wado Ru karate 40 years ago and it was nothing compared to the "real world " defense training of Krav Maga.

UPDATE: Response to the Owner Thank you for taking the time…read moreto respond to my review. To clarify, my experience and rating were not based on the curriculum itself, but on how the sign-up process, cancellation, and communication were handled. This was my first time joining a martial arts studio, so I relied on good faith and clear guidance to understand the terms and expectations. The instructor did mention both a six-month and one-year program after my first class, but there was no discussion that I'd be contractually obligated to either. I was not presented with a formal contract--just a digital signature form on an iPad for recurring payments. I wasn't informed of additional gear costs ($100+tax) until I was ready to the process the payment. Due to a change in my work schedule, I communicated my need to withdraw in text and in person and I did not attend after the first month. I was still charged a second month, and although I disputed that charge, I later learned the studio claimed I continued attending--something I did not do. I changed my card number after this incident to prevent further charges, and I received a failed payment notice after that change. This update is not written with ill intent. I respect the lineage and legacy your family brings to martial arts. My review and this reply are simply meant to offer honest feedback so that new students can be better informed before committing. As a final note, I encourage the studio to also engage with the many positive reviews you've received--not only the critical ones. It shows both gratitude and transparency and helps build a stronger community. Wishing you continued success and clarity in your communication with future students.
