If you're looking for a tennis coach in the San Francisco area, I highly recommend Yuri. During our…read moreshort visit to SF, he was able to fit my sister into his schedule on very short notice and was incredibly responsive throughout the process. He arranged court time and private instruction for the next two days, making everything easy and seamless for us. Yuri was punctual, positive, enthusiastic, and clearly invested in helping his players improve. My sister is a high school varsity tennis player, and he gave her a thoughtful, high-level assessment of her game. He provided specific, actionable feedback on her backhand, slice, volleys, serve, and drop shot, which is advice she has continued to use now that we are back home in Minnesota. What stood out most was his coaching style. Yuri does not simply watch a player repeat the same mistake; he identifies the issue, explains how to correct it, and helps the player make adjustments in the moment. We have worked with other coaches before, and his attention to detail and genuine care for his players really set him apart. Since returning to Minnesota, others have already commented on my sister's overall improvement. We are very grateful for Yuri's instruction and would absolutely work with him again whenever we are in San Francisco.

He motivated our child at his level, playing games to make it fun. We look forward to working with Yuri for the years ahead.

You can find high-quality players but not much in the way of clinics for advanced tennis players. It's a…read morelovely neighborhood area with plenty of parking, sports fields, playground, dog park, library, and there was even a food truck in the parking area. The dog park was really nice with fresh cut grass and fencing so the dogs can be let off of their leash. They had potty bag holders available but I always bring my own so I'm not sure if they were stocked or not. There were only a few other people in the dog area, but there were lots of people walking their dogs. There was also a soccer game going on just adjacent to the dog run and the park was very lively and full of people. I personally did not appreciate that the sports teams had placed their goals on the only sidewalk/ walkway through the area so that anyone walking had to go on to the grass to get around them. I feel like the park has plenty of room and that wasn't necessary. Other than that, we really enjoyed our visit here. I also checked out the library while my husband checked out the food truck with our dog. There were clean bathrooms inside and an adorable children's book area. I definitely recommend a stop to this park if you're in the area.

Came here for the off-leash enclosed dog park! My dog really enjoyed his time here. The great thing…read moreis that the area is big enough for bigger dogs to run around in. It has garbage cans, poop bag dispensers, and double doored gates on both ends so you can enter from either end of the park. Unfortunately it's not a 10/10 dog park for me because it's missing running water stations and some shade near the benches. Bring your own water if you come but good Samaritans have left a dog bowl with bottled water when I stopped by. Needs improvement but I will still come as it's the closest gated dog park near my house.

I've been going to this park since the 80's when the park wasn't in a good shape. The main reason…read morefor going to this park was to play pick-up basketball when I used to be gung-ho about playing. Even if the court was outdoors, there were always good competition with older Filipino men to go around. Even though I was a kid and younger than them, I gave 'em a few bumps and bruises. After so many knee surgeries, playing basketball is no longer an option for me...let alone playing outdoors on hard concrete. I'll leave that to the younger generation now as I've come to terms that my glory days are way over. Besides, I don't want to be embarrassed as I've become that old Filipino man that I use to clown on the court. Yup, growing old sucks. Since my playing days are long gone, the city and county has poured in a lot of money to improve, not just the basketball court, but the entire park. There's two separate playgrounds for the older kids and toddlers. Both floor decks are made from recycled rubber, which has become the norm for modern playgrounds. It's very soft and bouncy with a little give for extra padding. There's plenty of picnic tables, that is often rented for parties and events. It's also handicap accessible with wheelchair ramps built in for easy access. There's plenty of grassy fields in the picnic areas as well as the baseball field. Dogs are welcomed too and poo bags are available for your disposal. Bring your dog to the old football field just besides the baseball field to let them run around off leash. There's plenty of free parking spaces available in the parking lot, as well as street parking. There's two tennis courts in an enclosed fence that makes it feel like a private court. They have offices and a community center inside, but I've never been in. If you live in the neighborhood, there's pathways that leads you to the park. Be careful though since I've encountered a few coyotes living in the area, including my sister, who lives just a couple of blocks away. It's a good place to be outdoors to get your exercise, walk your dog or just breathe fresh, foggy and cool South San Francisco weather. It's a clean and well-maintained park that's a good place to hang around and staying active.

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the San Bruno Recreation Center,…read morespecifically with an employee named Jordan. My son has come here many times to play basketball and previously enjoyed it, but after this experience he doesn't even feel comfortable returning. Jordan questioned my son's membership/age, told him his membership was invalid, and made him leave, even though another employee later confirmed that he still had 8 paid scans remaining. When I came in to ask questions and requested to speak with a supervisor, Jordan became confrontational, raised his voice at me in front of my children, and told me that if I continued being "rude and disrespectful," I could be kicked out and no longer welcomed at the facility. That was completely unacceptable to me. Parents should be able to respectfully question a policy or advocate for their child without being yelled at or threatened with removal from a community facility. I do want to recognize Kayla, who was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. She showed that policies can be explained and enforced while still treating families with respect. I genuinely feel Jordan could benefit from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and how to appropriately communicate with children and families. Working in a community recreation center means interacting with people of all ages, including children, and even when enforcing rules, those interactions should be handled calmly and respectfully. I've been part of the San Bruno community my entire life, so it's especially disappointing that my son and I now feel uncomfortable returning. I truly hope management takes this concern seriously and addresses it so families can feel welcome and respected here.

We were greeted by Laurie, who was very friendly and told us all about what they had to offer at the Rec. Center. Just behind some glass doors near the lobby, is a game room. This is mostly targeted towards kids, with a giant TV and various video game systems to play with. We saw around a dozen kids hanging and playing in this area as we walked by. As you continue down on the first floor, there are classrooms, conference rooms, and even a giant hall that can be rented in full (or half) for private events! They also have a kitchen connected, which is helpful for events serving food. There are several clean and accessible bathrooms, as well as lots of fun historic photos on display. They have a Fitness Center with various equipment, and space for aerobic classes. There's also a room dedicated entirely to Ping Pong! If you get hungry or thirsty, there are two vending machines with drinks and snacks, and several water fountain/refill stations throughout. There is also an entire upstairs area. In addition to private rooms, there is a "Senior Lounge" which has comfortable seating, a large TV, and a half-kitchen. There is an outdoor patio connected up top with over a dozen lounge type chairs to enjoy some fresh air. They also have space for outdoor activities for people of all ages. There are multiple playgrounds for kids, in addition to multiple tennis courts and a large field. The Rec. Department also oversees many other fields (school and other) and a skate park, according to their website! If you live in (or near) Millbrae, you gotta check out this Rec. Center! There is a ton to do, it's super bright and clean, and the staff is all very friendly and welcoming! I'm looking forward to coming back again and utilizing some of these amazing features!
