Anyways, I will say Dr. Ahern is the real deal. She listens and understood my needs and what I was trying to explain. She took into account all of concerns and actually didn't make me sound crazy when I spoke about my migraines and how they affect(ed) my life. She actually listens! She gave me tips on how to better help prevent my migraine and understood why I was hesitant to try certain medications. I honestly can say she's like the best doctor ever. Heck, even the entire office. I was stuck in traffic before an MRI and was 45 minutes late (due to an accident on 29) and they were able to still pencil me in and have my appointment. If that doesn't say anything I don't know what does.

He was very thorough in his explanation of what the surgery would be like. While discussing the risks, he mentioned possible vocal cord damage that has happened in two of the couple hundred of these surgeries he's done. We mentioned that my daughter had had previous vocal cord damage due to a MVC that required long term life support. So to be on the safe side, he referred my daughter to the ENT to have her vocal cords examined to determine if it was her right of best side previously damaged. This was important because the vagus nerve stimulator is lot in the left side. So if the prior damage to her vocal cords were on the right side then we couldn't risk damaging the left side as it may leave her without a voice and possible requiring a trach. All of that to say... I am grateful that he was so thorough and erred on the side of caution. He was very pleasant and thorough at the hospital the day of surgery. He made sure I had any questions answered, made sure to speak with me once surgery was over, etc. The follow up appointment was quick and easy due to no complications. Very pleased with this provider and office. In addition to the exceptional care, the office is very spacious, well lit and clean.

You will truly be hindered from being able to move up to the more "corporate" or directoral positions because of skin color. Micro-agression is prevalent. Make sure you keep a journal and document. You can tell that many of the staff are passionate in their roles and genuinely care about their patients, visitors and guests. They do their best to make sure everyone is comfortable; at least the ones I came into contact with. If you are looking for care and don't want to feel anxious and overstimulated, please give this hospital a try. It may be relatively small, but it does deliver in the services it provides without the heavy traffic of Baptist and Forsyth Medical Center. I'm not knocking Forsyth and Baptist as they are also great hospitals but if you are looking for one that feels more like home and peaceful, this is the route to take.

They provided anything I needed, including personal care items, specific dietary needs, and even entertainment. It was a scary time for me, and I could feel that the nursing staff were doing all they could to alleviate any anxiety I had. Even the dietary department mad me feel like a queen. There was limited number of things I could eat, but they made sure those items were fresh and delicious. I am so grateful for everyone involved in my care there. I have written on their cards to shout out each individual who I remembered, but I wanted to share my experience here has well. Something good is going on in Kernersville at this Hospital.
