I had my system installed last Thursday, it rained on Saturday , and every seam and end cap on gutters was leaking , also I was told that the downspouts would be cleaned, and I have at least 2 downspouts completely plugged. After seeing tv ads for Leaf Filter, I responded to a Facebook post for a quote. A very nice employee arrived and walked around my house to measure my gutters. At my dining table, he explained the product and how it works. Then came the shocker. The price: $8097. When I almost fell off my chair, the price came down. In reading other reviews, I see this is SOP. With discounts, my price would be $4650. I signed the contract. After reflection, I did some additional research. I found numerous positive and negative reviews about Leaf Filter. I also read about a class action lawsuit. But my primary concern was an area in my back yard where my roof meets my pool screen. I was told I'd get $250 toward screen repair if the installers had to cut it. When I resisted, the offer went to $400. If it cost more, I'd have to eat it. The experience we had was not at all like they show on their TV commercials and the salesman told us. They talk on their commercials that being on a ladder is unsafe but they turn around and only send one person to do the install that involves ladder and roof work so there was no one to get materials or watch them in case of an incident. Not only was the installer working by himself he was doing the install on the front of our house from the very top of a step ladder, two steps above the sign on the ladder that says do not stand on or above this step. I called the Leaffilter office about this practice while it was happening and was informed that the installation manager would call me back, four days later, still no call. Then after the installer left I noticed scraps from the installation laying around and debris that was removed from the gutters thrown on the lawn and piled up in a gravel flowerbed along the house. The salesman stressed in his presentation how clean things would be and that debris removed from the gutter would be bagged and taken with the installer. I emailed the salesman to inform him that they did not do what he said and guess what, no response or acknowledgement from him either. There although the product may do what they say, we haven't had any rain since the installation, the experience has not been a pleasant one, communication has been non existent and safety is obviously not a real concern of theirs. read more

The product not only prevents leaves from entering the gutter but also stops water from entering the gutter. Literally had waterfalls coming off of the roof after the guards were installed. The company would not respond to phone calls or emails, would not honor their guarantees, and made no attempt to correct the issue after they had the money. That is because LeafFilter never provided the work that they quoted, they did not honor their quoted price and their sales manager lied about needing to put his crew to work because they were not busy enough. First, let me say that I never write reviews, but in this case, I feel like it is my moral obligation to call out unethical people and companies to protect others. I would NEVER do business with people like this regardless of the quality of the product, which is questionable if you read the reviews. Here are the FACTS: They started out with a quote that was nearly $3,000. When I told them that was too expensive, they lowered to $1,296. That's right. They cut the price by more than 50% because they said they needed to keep their installers busy. This is despite it being peak pollen season in Florida! When I questioned that logic, the regional manager said things start to pick up in late March, but until then they need to cut price to get business. I said "it is now March 29 so I am not sure what you mean". He wished me luck with my gutters in a sarcastic tone. A few days later, I called my original salesperson to tell him what transpired. I told him that despite my bad experience, I would hire them for $1,000 and he quickly came back with a counter of $1,196. When I agreed to that price 3 days later and set up the installation appointment for the next day, my salesperson (David) called the next day and said that the price increased and they could no longer honor the price. This is despite them saying and putting in writing that the price was guaranteed for 30 days! I NEVER write reviews about service providers because I just dont have the time, but I could not in good faith let other consumers be duped by this company. My experience was awful during the sales process and it culminated with them refusing to do the work that they promised at a specific price. Mixed reviews. The sales made promised that were not fulfilled during the installation. During the sales process, there was much back and forth about price. They came down to the price I established at the beginning. Their first approach was 200% higher than I had planned. Eventually they came down to my price. anyone considering this company, set your price and don't go any higher, they WILL come down. The sales person said that a "TEAM" would be coming to do the install. One person showed up and he doesn't work for the company. The sales person said that the old bolts would be removed and replaced with these new hardware. This didn't happen. The installer said that the old hardware would NOT be replaced. Additional hardware would be added IF necessary. The sales person said that the gutters would be adjusted so the rain would move down the gutters, the installer said that this was not a part of the installation. The sales person said that the downspouts would be cleaned out, I was told to get a shop vac to clean them out. The sales person said that the leaves would run off the gutter. Review of Leaf Filter Gutter Protection & Single Source Contracted Installer Mr. Samuel Lent of APex Optimal We have been watching the TV commercials and checking out Leaf Filter Gutter Protection for at least two years. The commercials have been good, and the web site presents a logical solution to the problem presented. There are other companies that provide a similar, but not exact, type of protection; however, the warranty both written and stated is not the same. To put it simply, Mr. Brian Knuckles/Commercial Accounts Manager for Leaf Filter of North Florida, LLC said, "the gutter belongs to Leaf Filter" - his meaning if any failure happens to the installed system or the gutter clogs and causes damage, Leaf Filter will fix the problem. So, I invited Mr. Knuckles to our home wherein he first did a walk-around and measurement of our gutter system and then requested to make his required presentation. His presentation was done well and was the standard type of corporate presentation for their product. Then he presented the cost which was higher than I expected. He then applied two discounts which brought the cost to a number that I was willing to discuss with 'the boss.' Please note, while the initial cost was presented, that is the only one that is good for a year, the applied discounts require you to sign on the dotted line, which unfortunately is the typical experience we have had with this type of purchase. I did ask for 24-hours to discuss with 'the boss' and maintain the discounts, Mr. Knuckles did not say "no" and he did not say "yes" - he paused wherein I was under the impression if I insisted, he would have given me the 24-hours. Thinking of my age and my wife's current disabilities I changed my request to allow me some time with 'the boss' to discuss while he waited either on our lanai or in his truck. My wife and I determined that the cost given the protection being offered, while we believe to be over-priced, eventually will pay for itself and eventually our children. The installation was available the next day (10/28/2021); however, that afternoon the weather forecast included severe weather with potential for tornados, so contacted Mr. Knuckles and advised that the installation will not be allowed the next day due to the weather and safety for the installers. Mr. Knuckles had the installation cancelled (we did have severe weather) and set it up for the next week. One other recommendation, as the person who comes to give you the estimate be sure to ask, "are there any other promotions, especially the following month." On the day of the install (11/01/2021) we received the November Promo advertisement from Leaf Filter wherein an additional 15% discount is being offered - we did not get the additional 15% off the price quoted! Mr. Samuel Lent of APex Optimal and a sole source contracted installer for Leaf Filter arrived at 10:00 AM (we requested for the installers to arrive after 9:45 AM due to other commitments), which was honored by Leaf Filter in the scheduling process. To my surprise Mr. Lent was by himself. We did a complete walk-around of the house and while we requested the color "white" to be used he noted that the gutter that runs between our lanai roof and the lanai screen was a deep brown and noted the white would stand out in a negative way and offered to use a bronze metal, which turned out to be perfect! Mr. Lent spent six hours doing the install. One of the issues he ran into was with the lanai gutter in that where he would normally do the attachment to the lanai roof, Mr. Lent advised me that the normal connect could/would invalidate the roof warranty, so he had to use a method and tool that made the connections in a blind spot. To Mr. Lent's credit and professionalism, he took exceptional care and time in making sure this part of the installation was given the attention it demanded. Mr. Lent stayed on task the entire time, he advised that he eats his lunch as he worked, which he did. Upon completing the installation, he went around the entire house and picked up all the waste material and then went back up on the roof and took birds eye pictures of his work, sixteen in total, to which he sent to me when he got home. Finally, he provided me the warranty, my copy of the contract, and advised a receipt for our payment would be emailed to us the following day - which it was. Mr. Samuel Lent is the consummate professional and demonstrated his skill in doing this install. As well, Mr. Samuel Lent was friendly, customer centered, and all questions that I had were answered. read more

Not good...since the leaf guards were to be installed on gutters in a pool cage, I had to coordinate the installation with the individual who would remove the screens before the leaf guard installers got there, and the replace the screens as the leaf guard installers finished a section. I had arranged (by contract) that the leaf installers arrive between 9 and 11 (basically because I-4 from Tampa to Lakeland is a crap shoot as far as times). The screen installer arrived around 8:30 to begin removing the screens in anticipation the leaf guard installers arrival. Well, that is where it began to go bad. By 10:00 the screens had been removed, waiting for the leaf guard installers. Fortunately, I had several other screen repairs to keep the screen installer busy for another hour. Well, 11:00 came and went. At 11:45, I finally called LeafFilter to find out where the installers were, and they told me "on the way should be there shortly". at 12:30 the leaf guard installers arrived...and I am basically paying a screen installer to sit on my deck and watch the leaf guard installers. At this point, I am livid. Now I am not questioning the quality of the leaf installers work, that remains to be seen. What I had heartburn with was that one of the members of their installer team could not have been over 15 years of age. My mind was screaming to me about my potential liability for having a minor on a job site. Worse yet, how could LeafFilter allow this? Yes, they are contractors, with no connection to LeafFilter. Notwithstanding that, if this young man would have been injured on this job, I cannot think of all the possible ramifications...all of them bad for everyone! I contacted my LeafFilter sales agent to re-negotiate the contract price as all of their work was contingent upon being coordinated with the screen installer. It should be Leaf Filter's responsibility to cover the time the screen installer was here, doing nothing! Long story short, a manager from LeafFilter did call me back, they knocked off $150 from the contract price (is that worth 5 hours of the screen installers time?), told me I could not pay by credit card because it cost money to run a card, and that they would follow up with the contractor regarding the minor on the job. I am at a loss for words...LeafFilter was totally unprofessional on every level. Like I said, I have no issues with the leaf guard install as of yet, the guys seemed knowledgeable about what they were doing, it was just the minor. I later discovered talking with the screen installer that the LeafFilter crew was given no time to show up at my residence (contrary to the contract), and it seems they were uninformed by LeafFilter management in this regard. So, is it a failure in communication, or did LeafFilter just fail to meet the low bar they set for themselves? I cannot in good conscience recommend LeafFilter. I selected them as they seemed to have a good product, and that is as far as my recommendation can go. My suggestion if you use Leaf Filter to install leaf guards on gutters for a pool deck on which the screens must be removed to do the installation, write into the contract a contingency fee covering the possibility of a late arrival. I know my screen installer will never do something like this again, as he lost a job he was supposed to do in the afternoon. read more

They came out for an estimate which totaled $1000 for two 15 foot gutters. I explained that I only paid $500 for the two gutter and a 40 foot separate gutter including downspouts. They immediately lowered the price to $600 which I was unwilling to pay. I ended up doing it myself for about $100 and completed it in 30 minutes. After looking closely at their style of cover, I'm not convinced that wet leaves will not decrease efficiency. I think it would be wise to get several estimates from separate companies. read more

The price was far more expensive than we had anticipated but, to be fair, the work that needed to be done was much more extensive than we had thought. STAY AWAY FROM LEAF FILTERS !!! Terrible, terrible experience! My 84 year old mother-in-law saw the commercial on TV and called for an inspection and quote. The sales rep was very aggressive and manipulated her into signing a contract when she just wanted an estimate and to think about it. So, the system was installed in October 2020. Since that installation she has had to clean the gutter over the lanaii many times and has also had it cleaned professionally twice, to no avail. Leaves and debris just pile up and the patio is filthy. The system DOES NOT WORK!!! Then we find out the only gutter cover placed was over the lanaii! No other gutter on the 2,500 square foot home has a cover! And the worst part is that they charged her $2,700.00 for a cover on the existing lanaii gutter, which is 27 years old!!! $2,700.00!!! And she still has debris accumulating on the gutter cover from her trees. It is a mess. Now we are trying to get the system removed and a refund since it does not work. We have been trying for almost 2 months. Very difficult to get thru to customer service and when you do they say "You will get a call from the home office." Needless to say, the home office never calls back. We finally got an appointment for today to have the system removed. Appointment was scheduled for a time window of between 8 am to 12 noon. No one showed up, no phone call. When I called customer service I was told "You will get a call from the home office." PLEASE, PLEASE stay away from this company. After some negotiation, I purchased the Leaf Filter system. Installation was scheduled within three days. The installer arrived at my home as scheduled. The installer and myself walked around my house with the drawing that was provided by the sales representative. As the installer was working, he was very meticulous collecting debris from my gutters, not allowing debris to be scattered around my house. The installer kept a clean jobsite. Upon completion, the installer provided me photos of all Leaf Filter products installed. This was much more professional than myself having to get on a ladder and inspect the completed job. The sales representative was very accommodating in adjusting the job scope per my request. I am very pleased with the completed job and highly recommend Leaf Filter. Works for a few weeks, then like every filter it traps the debris and becomes clogged itself. In fact if you live in an area with oak or pine trees you will have to remove and clean the filter several times yearly or do as I have done and remove it all together. After meeting with the salesman I made an appointment to have Leaffilters installed 3 days later, between 1 and 3 PM. That time came and went without any contact so I called the salesman and it went to voicemail. He didn't return my call but a scheduler did with no explanation, but he was more than willing to waste more of my time. I didn't make another appointment. 3 days later, I happened to be home when an installer called asking for directions to my house. I still needed gutter covers so I let them install. Omg. Where do I start. My past experience should have raised a red flag with the high pressure to commit before leaving my home Besides the high cost for just the filter system without replacing the gutters the sales pitch about the quality and the no interest finance is what won me over to purchase. I live in a community with many pine trees and pine needle droppings which is why I was counting on this to alleviate the need for gutter cleaning. When I asked this question I was even directed to my kitchen sink to explain how debris on the gutter "bubbles" off when the rains come. This couldn't be further from the truth. It does not and then because the mesh screen is so fine the water cascades over the gutter as well in areas where the volume of rain water is great. The bigger problem I've had and documented numerous times in videos is also in an area where there is a large amount of water coming off the roof in a downpour and water cascades over the leaf filter screening because it can't handle the flow. Bottom line is this was installed end of May and has been a continual problem requiring numerous service calls to try to correct any issues that are still not totally resolved after four months . So what do we do now.? Continue to try to reach someone at the Corporate level who,even though the guarantee is Only that nothing will get in the gutter once installed, will call me back to let me know when it can be uninstalled and refund my money so I can end this nite mare and move on. read more
