I've never been to a wine shop with more character. Looks like it opened forty or fifty years ago and hasn't been touched since (except for the wine bottles). A time capsule of a place near the Esquirol/Carmes neighborhoods of Toulouse centre-ville. As a non-native French speaker I was too intimidated to go in alone, so I went with a French friend one evening. The place is tiny and it was half full of people chatting, smoking and sipping wine. Proprietor was accessible and seemed friendly. We were picking up wine to bring to a party and he recommended a bottle of red and white. Seemed to have a good selection within a range of prices. Accepted credit cards, which was surprising, but very convenient. Would like to return here when we have more time to settle into the atmosphere and study the old postcards on the wall. read more
