If you're anywhere near Barolo town in Italy and love great wine, La Vite Turchese is an absolute…read moremust. This was hands-down one of the most memorable wine tastings we've had in Piedmont. The Barolo tasting was thoughtfully curated, showcasing the depth, elegance, and diversity of the region--from structured, age-worthy expressions to more approachable, aromatic pours. Each wine was introduced with genuine passion and deep knowledge, not in a rehearsed way, but with the warmth of people who truly live and breathe Barolo. We learned so much about terroir, producers, and vintages without it ever feeling overwhelming. The charcuterie board was the perfect companion: beautifully presented, featuring high-quality local cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments that elevated each glass. Nothing felt generic--every bite was intentional and paired beautifully with the wines. What really sets La Vite Turchese apart is the atmosphere. Tucked right in the heart of Barolo town, it feels intimate, relaxed, and authentic--exactly what you hope for in a wine experience here. The service was welcoming, attentive, and never rushed, making us feel like guests rather than customers.

We stmbled into this place while in Barola wine tasting on vacation. Wow, great experience…read more Stefano listened to what type of experiance we were looking for, and pulled 4 wines that lead us on a journey to explain and discover the region. He had a great selection of regional wines, with prices that were very non-tourist. He insisted his wife select a cheese to compliment the wine, great decision. His shop hasn't been there very long, but what a contrast to the mass tourist stuff we got at the wine museum. Go find this place. If you are into wine, it is worth it.

There are sandwiches. There are great sandwiches. And then…read morethere's Master Sandwich in Turin--where Paulo, a man who speaks six languages and somehow makes each one taste like bread and glory, presides over his counter like a god in an apron. This place isn't a shop. It's a shrine. You don't wander in--you make the pilgrimage. The air smells like toasted bread and cured meats, and somewhere behind it all is Paulo, building another small miracle with his hands. He's not slapping ingredients together; he's conducting an orchestra. The bread is percussion, the cheese is strings, the meat is brass, and the sauces... they're the slow, smoky notes that stay with you long after you've walked out the door. I came to Turin for just a few days. I left with the taste of this place burned into my memory like a favorite song. Two sandwiches--different beasts entirely--and Paulo wanted my honest verdict on both. That's not ego. That's the hunger of a man who knows the craft isn't just about being great once--it's about being great every damn time. The bread shatters just enough to let the fillings take over. The flavors aren't just balanced--they're in conversation with each other. And the sauces? They haunt you, the way a great meal should. If there's a heaven for sandwiches, Paulo is there already--smiling, knife in hand, sliding something across the counter that will ruin every other sandwich you've ever known.

The owner speaks Italian (of course), French, Spanish, and English, and when he's not serving the massive number of people strolling in, he's great to talk to. The sandwiches were only €6.5. And's they were so co l good, we came back the our last day in town to have one for the road. You can tell, they love to cook and love people. I hope to come back to Torino just for these sandwiches.
