This restaurant has some unique dishes. My appetizer is a local specialty. Geese gizzard salad. Many restaurants in France serve duck gizzard salad, but in Dordogne area is foie gras production region. There is a lot of geese. The geese gizzard is a lot softer compared to duck gizzard. My wife has the goose pate. Our entrees is beef kabob and duck leg. Both dishes is excellent. The France prepare kabab just lightly seasoning. You may want to add some salt. We end our meal with chef special. It is one of the France favorite. The dessert shape like a dome. This dome is actually make from the foam of egg white. Very unique.

I chose the Gambas (prawns) which were tasty, the Cassoulet, a local bean and meal dish that was also good. My husbands fois gras dish was only so-so, his coq Au vin (Chicken) was tough and undercooked. He had Chocolate cake and I had walnut cake, both cakes were dry and not very good. Service was very fast on appetizers but quite slow to clear dishes, slow to bring main course, waiter never came back to get my wine choice or ask if we wanted another drink. I swapped my Walnut cake for my wife's chocolate cake. The whipped cream was very nice. The cake a little dry. The service was passable. The place was very busy even though it was the off season. My wife had the 19 euro menu and so had the cassoulet. It was good. The walnut cake was also dry. With so many places in this town and I had the 15 euro menu, I would have to suggest try some where else. My wife thought the location was cute. I think every location in town is cute. .

I suppose you can say that the people match the towns beauty! I had recently arrived from a VERY long day/night of travel (almost 20 hours!) and I was very tired, so the following day I woke up very late! Having said that, I know European friends do not eat lunch after 2 pm since that is the time that they take to eat their lunches, gather with friends, siesta and prep for the evening meal as well. I approached La Petite Borie because it was within steps of my Apartment and decided to pop in for lunch. It was about 1:40 pm (a bit late!!!), but the owner/manager greeted with a smile, reminded me that they will close shortly and suggested a great duck dish for me to enjoy! My waitress was super sweet, quick to bring bread and water! I also ordered a salad which was a meal in itself, but it had been a few years since I visited France so I had forgotten that they usually serve some greens with the meals. I did my best to eat it all and then my main course arrived. (I ate it quickly so I didn't get a chance to snap a photo--sorry!) but I assure you it was a delicious as EVERY SINGLE MEAL I ate on my visit was!! The duck was cooked perfectly, it was succulent, flavorful and perfect. I believe that I had Pommes de Terre Sarladaises and they were the perfect texture and made a great match with my duck and salad. I noticed that they were closing up and the owner/manager just smiled and said, No worries, I will have you stay with us and just let me know when you are done! So I had the whole (beautifully charming place) all to myself! I paid, and then had a nice conversation with him and my waitress and left with a smile and a full, satisfied belly! Thank you for your patience with me and thank you for the wonderful food! I will see you on my next visit! :-)
