This hotel is a gem! There are some pros and cons to it but honestly I would highly recommend it to everyone!
Parking:
Now the main entrance to this hotel is located inside a pedestrian only street within the medieval village. It's a beautiful location! Now because it's location parking can be fun. They have 3 lots you can choose from. P1 is the closest and about a 5 minute walk up a small hill. P2 is the next closest where you will have about 100 stairs and a small hill. P3 is located the furthest and will be a hike from the bottom of the hill for about a 7-10 minute walk. No matter where you park there will be a hill and you will need to carry you luggage up it. Now with that being said, it's not a hard hike up those hills and they have benches to relax on. The views are unreal here so if you need a break, just pause and enjoy the views. Parking is $10 and the hotel front desk will provide you a parking pass for your car.
Checking in:
The front desk for this hotel is tucked away in a corner and it's wonderful! I seriously loved how after we checked in the gentleman walked us to our room and gave us a tour of the hotel. In all the hotels I've stayed at in the world, I've never had that and it was seriously a nice touch!
Views:
With this hotel you get two views. The first is one overlooking the town center and the second is looking at the beautiful mountains. Honestly both views are unbelievable!
What's unique about staying in the medieval village of Gruyères is that during the day it will be packed with tourists. Parking will be difficult during this time. However once it hits like 6pm all the tourists leave and it because very quiet and peaceful. It's very relaxing!
Overall phenomenal hotel and I would highly recommend it to everyone! read more
