Just walk into any toy department and it feel like all your senses are under attack. From the garish colors and cheap materials to the god-awful sounds that these things emit, you wonder what evil spirit possessed the people who designed them. That's why places like Si Tu Veux should be classified as national living treasures because the survival of the human race depends on them! This oasis of kid calm is aptly located in the chic Passage Vivienne next to other classy shops. The selection here is pitch perfect. Every item seems to have been selected with careful thought and consideration by the owner, a lovely woman who will, if you ask, tell you what kind of toy would be most appropriate for your child given his or her age. With my little one in tow, she selected a few toys for him to try out and we all agreed on this amazing DNA-strand-like construct made out of colored wood and bouncy string that my baby immediately gobbled up and slathered his approval onto. Not only is it super to look at, it's also one of his favorite toys. And I've never seen it anywhere else so the owner must have chosen it from some obscure manufacturer (or at least that's what I told myself to justify its slightly elevated price).

It did not disapoint with an adorable magnetic writing tablet. Easy to slip into my purse and interests our child for hours. The clerk told us not for babies but our girl is very very petit and old enough for such a thing. They have waldorf animals as well and I wish I had purchased a fox there. Very cute! ps: It's tucked away in a small Galerie so it's very easy to miss. The Galerie is lovely!

But the cherry on the icing of the Bonton cake is really the hair salon in the back of the shop. Replete with sparkly lights, colorful seating, a blackboard table top for kids to color on, tons of children's books and ridiculously friendly staff, it's everything you could ever wish a kids' hair salon to be. Plus, the price is right! It's a reasonable 15E for a kids cut, so it was an obvious choice when we finally decided to treat our kid to his first "real" haricut (had you seen the previous homemade cuts you would convict us for having not sent him sooner).. Not only was the cut super sharp and fantastic, but the experience top notch. Coralie, our hairdresser, entertained her little client with little coos, clever distractions and lots of positive messaging (aka, oh boy, the girls are going to go nuts when they see how cute you look with this cut..). She was right, everyone's going bonkers for his new do. Never thought I'd say this but I can't wait for his next trip to the hairdresser! NB: They also do adult cuts too, and at really affordable rates!

Every parent in the hood stops here now, and when you're all heading to the same child's party they'll take his or her name so that the parents don't repeat the same gift! The people who work here really know their stuff and steer you towards the right item based on age, number of kids in the house, etc. The brands are all top notch, but there are always affordable options.
