The rooms were very comfortable, breakfasts were delicious and dinners definitely lived up to the 4 stars they have earned. Service was always attentive and friendly. We always had the "plat du jour", which was wonderfully varied from day to day and very reasonably priced, compared to other area restaurants of lesser quality. We would return eagerly to enjoy the efforts of Arnaud and his wonderful team!

It is a small hotel with a restaurant. It's rustic, as you might expect, since it's in a skiing and recreation area in the alps. The rooms are simply furnished, but comfortable and homey. The restaurant serves huge portions of a delicious version of French country cooking. I had a beef stew served over ravioli, tasty and filling. No one here speaks English. I was the only one in the restaurant that wasn't French. Even though I don't speak French, the staff were friendly and patient and we were able to communicate enough for me to check in to my room and to have dinner in the restaurant. Overall, I would definitely recommend l'Escapade if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in the Maritime Alps.

Just be sure you're ok with french food from the mountains -- it's much richer than the rest... I had a fabulous salad with duck breast (...just to make sure it was fatty, they added a large amount of bacon...), good lamb chops and a fantastic blueberry crumble. My wife had an excellent chateaubriand steak (smothered with butter...). Wine, coffee, genepy... all for EUR80. I recommend it.
