We were some of the first customers to arrive, since we Americans eat early (and quickly) and we were hungry after all our morning excursions. I chose the special of the day - tiny ravioli in a creamy sauce with ham and chives. Delicious! Pretty presentation, too. Our server was friendly, and the service was typically French timed. We ended up paying inside, where I could see that it was also a charming place for the cooler months when you'd want to be inside.

If you are looking to dine outdoors near the Marseille harbor but away from the touristy crowds,…read moreVinonéo is a good option. I had a lovely lunch here on the terrace out front. Even though it was 30°C, the breeze and shade from the tall trees made it a perfect spot to enjoy some French fare and people watching. The fresh Burrata Caprese (with pesto sauce!) and Squash Blossom appetizers were very tasty. Probably the the best versions of each I've ever had. I was so full by the time I finished them that I had a bit of trouble making my way through my Lamb Shank entrée. It was lamb roasted with shallots, root vegetables, and a wine sauce, but the meat was a bit over-cooked, salty, and dry. I probably should have chosen a lighter dish. The wine I had was very good though, and it's a beautiful place to dine outdoors!

I'm in France. It's a bistrot (bar/restaurant) and it's focus is wine. Le Bistrot a Vin =…read morehappiness, delight, joy, peace, libations and nom noms. This location is right on the port so al fresco (outside) dining lets you see boats, ships and pretty much all things maritime. The bistro, IMHO, didn't have a HUUGGEEE wine list, in fact it was rather seasonal so rose was the wine of the day - but what it lacked in quantity it more than made up for in quality. Tasty chilled roses from the impeccable bandol region sang with their tart zingy aftertaste that lulled the tongue into a gratified submission; why talk when you can continue to sip and drink!? A nearby art exhibit at a rehabbed warehouse turned museum was featuring the biography of (gay icon) Jean Genet - so the eye candy wandering about was more than impressive. My companion and I had one rule we'd abide to while traveling together in France; instead of trying to fit in as many tourist sites as possible in our limited time, if we found a place we liked - we'd stay there and enjoy the vibe - why rush happiness? So one bottle in the late afternoon soon morphed into three so we could watch the spectacular sunset on the Riviera and munch on that oh so perfect French bread and some briny oysters.... oh the good life! One caveat I should note - great service, clean interior but due to location - pricey. To me, worth every penny..... although I guess I should note my companion picked up the tab.

I got the beef fillet and it was extremely tender and perfectly cooked. I ordered it with the optional sauce and it made all the difference (my mouth is watering thinking about it). -The side dishes that came with my beef fillet are what really sets it apart. At first, the plate looked random. A random tomato, a random onion. Random things. But, they were cooked in a unique way- almost candied. Somehow, it all worked really well with the steak, sauce, and other sides. -They do have an English menu Cons: -Service was just ok. He said he didn't speak English, which was perfectly fine by us. We arrived promptly at the location and our table was ready for us immediately in a private section of the restaurant. What a great start was my initial thought....unfortunately, this place did not live up the service and quality that I expected. My largest complaint about this place is the time it took for us to even place our orders. At least an hour and a half went by. This included multiple reminders by myself and another person in my group to the hostess that we were waiting. We would have probably left if we had not all been so invested in this restaurant already. Having already waited so long, we didn't believe we could get a table anywhere else at such short notice. When we finally placed our orders, we also ordered a bottle of wine. Because the hostess was in such a rush, she actually ended up smashing the bottle a mere few feet from us (the wine cooler was stationed next to our table). Glass was everywhere, and it took time for them to sweep it up. To top it off, we ordered razor clams that never got to our table. We asked the hostess to check on them since they had never arrived, and she stated that they were preparing them as we were speaking. A few minutes later, she returned and stated that they were out of them... The only reason that I am not giving this place one star is that of two reasons: 1. After the hostess destroyed the bottle, she gave us a bottle, as well as some roasted potatoes on the house. 2. The food is actually good here; however, it's definitely not worth waiting almost two hours to order. Overall, a memorable mixed experience. However, the next time I'm in Marseille, I will skip this place.

I've never experienced a comprehensive list of sardines like this. Our waitress was very educated on the different types and helped us make a couple of selections, which were all quite good. So, if you don't like sardines, your options are sort of limited here.
