They were a cavalry regiment of the Prussian army formed in 1815 during the war of liberation in the fight against Napoleon. The statue is about 50 feet tall and is cast in bronze, weighing around two tons. It depicts a soldier on a horse that is rearing up and holding a lance in his left hand.
