Personally, I loved this place. (side note- I love lox, and salmon so a place called 'Lox Deli'…read moresuits me well). I had 2 hours to kill, so I brought a book and sat outside in the sun sipping on my coffee. I ordered some scrambled eggs with a side of the lox in virgin olive oil with dill. It was so good, I almost ordered another portion but stopped myself. That would have been a LOT of lox, as the portion size was quite sufficient. My waitress was especially nice. She knew exactly when to let me be- reading to myself- and somehow noticed the moment that I needed something and was at my side asking how she could help . As I was leaving, they were pulling out all of their brunch stuff. It looks like it is an all you can eat buffet of tasty healthy things like light-quiches and fruits and different types of salads. I would like to try it out next time I am in town.

One of these places is Lox Deli. One fine Saturday, I decided to try their breakfast (or brunch) menu and I was not at all disappointed - fresh house-made bagels with cream cheese, fruit salad with granola and great service - this place keeps growing on me..recommend a visit for breakfast/brunch which they serve all day. The highlight of Lox Deli definitely is the in-house bakery they have and its one of the best bagels I gave had in the city. It's relatively empty on Saturday mornings, so you can sit down and have a relaxed & savoury breakfast - the service is attentive, not pushy. I haven't seen big groups in here for breakfast - it's generally couples or single people and they do allow pets on the patio area. The coziness of the place, the attentive service and the great quality definitely make this one of those place to return. The only caveat that Lox Deli has that it is closed on Sundays - come on ! Sunday is world brunch day !!!

A carne veio no ponto certinho! [ENG] Okay, it had been a really long time since I ate a burger in SP and reacted like: omg! That's what happened. I took a long time to visit Z Deli because people always said the space was too small and always crowded. Besides that, there ir no air conditioning, which can be pretty annoying in SP's summer. That's why the restaurant doesn't get a 5-star rating. But going back to the delicious part of this review, the burger is truly amaaaaazing! I ordered one called Minetta which has cheddar cheese and caramelized onion. The meat was exaclty medium well as ordered and bread was slightly crunchy with a little taste of butter. LOVED IT. The pastrami sandwich was little bit dry, wasn't that into it. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of fois gras, so I didn't get the famous foie gras burger. However, all of my friends that tried really really really liked it. The regular fries are great! Crunchy and not at all oily :) the fat fries are good, but they get kinda soaked in the sauce, so I prefered the other ones. There's also the pink lemonade, which I thought was bit sweet since it contains "groselha", a really sweet Brazilian drink. I often go back to Z Deli, but try to go on not so busy hours or just get a take out :)

The first time I arrived, one of the waiters, Carlos, took me under his wing, showed me the ropes, reserved a table for me and just made me feel like I'd arrived at a friend's house for dinner. I returned several times in the two weeks I stayed in São Paulo and also met Joe, one of the owner/managers. Joe encouraged me to try their paninis. Normally, I steer clear of pizza-like foods in foreign countries... I mean, I love my NYC thin crust and am almost always disappointed in what I find elsewhere. Not so at Boston Bakery. Their crust is thin, crunchy, not soggy at all! In short, unexpectedly amazing and all the ingredient inside are fresh and in creative, tasty combinations. Boston Bakery is a combo buffet, sit down restaurant, diner, deli, chocolate shop and corner store. A great place to run and grab something or stay and linger. Thanks Joe and team for some great meals and wonderful hospitality! See you again soon.

Neither had been here before, but both had heard good things, so they figured it would be worth a shot. How right they were! The restaurant is cute and charming inside, with a rustic sort of feel. The waiters--none of whom appear to speak English, though I cannot be sure of that since my friends handled all the interactions with staff--were friendly and helpful. The menu is extremely varied and includes many ingredients from all over Brazil, including exotic fishes from the north of the country, spices from the Amazon, and all sorts of things that none of us knew what they were. We opted to share two starters, one called Aquarelas do Brasil (after the famous song of the same name) and the other "pintxos" of tapioca and shimeji mushrooms (mushrooms wrapped in tapioca pastry and fried). The Aquarelas dish turned out to be delivered on a plate resembling a painter's palette, with four little servings of things to be spread on thin pieces of a special bread that they make in-house (each serving a different colour, thus adding to the theme evoked by the dish's name). The tapioca-wrapped mushrooms was the better-tasting of the two dishes, though we enjoyed them both very much. For the main course, I had a dish that consisted of beef, farofa, a fried noodle sort of thing on top and a tomato-and-onion salsa on the side, together with rice. It had excellent flavours, though the fried noodle-y thing on top made it a bit difficult to eat. We also had caiprinhas or caipiroskas, one of the latter made with red fruits instead of lime--there is a sizeable list of options for these cocktails on the menu--and they even gave us a taste of a special cachaça made with a Brazilian relative of the betel leaf. We really didn't need dessert after all this, but we decided to share one among the three of us, choosing one made with toasted coconut, white chocolate caramel and something called puxurí that none of us was familiar with, so one of the waiters brought some out to show us. Turns out it's a spice from northern Brazil that is redolent of cinnamon and vanilla, and they gave me a piece to use at home. The dessert was excellent, as was the rest of the meal, and the price was pretty reasonable given all that we had ordered (R$140 each).
