I especially loved the prepared meat in the stall near the entrance (they have many prepared items to choose from--I ended up loving the duck foie gras and duck rillette). Also, people were helpful and willing to deal with my poor French :) As another reviewer mentioned, there aren't many (perhaps any) ready-to-way meals. But I wasn't looking for that, and I found the quality to be fantastic.

Such is the case with Vélocafé, a coffee stand on wheels that's stationed outside of La Bourse Monday through Friday. I passed by the stand a few weeks ago and spoke briefly with the owners, a Danish couple that has taken their coffee appreciation to a new level by becoming the only mobile café in Paris. At the time I was sufficiently caffeinated, so I didn't order a coffee but today, when I walked by again, I was in desperate need of a little pick me up. I ordered a long espresso macchiato for 1.30E that was smooth, and creamy with a little bitter kick to finish, and decided to enjoy while talking once again to the owners to find out more about their unusual set-up. So, it took a lot of time and patience (surprise, surprise) for them to get a license to sell coffee out of a customized Danish bicycle, and while their concept is mobility the law restricts them from taking their stand on the road (ahhh, la France...), so they have to be stationed in one place all the time. Luckily for me, that place is close to where I work, so I know I can find them there whenever I want. If the concept works out they can start a fleet and place some more Vélocafés around the city. Now I'll raise a cuppa cappuccino to that!

And then, there's the friendly people, always smiling and making you more of a fan of Cantine. I've eaten veggie burgers across Paris, and this place figures in the top three. It's a must visit, and the Cantine at Marche St Honoré has become more than a weekly affair. To sum up, the food and the people remind you of your close friends, and puts you in a comfort zone.

I was not disappointed. The pair that own the food truck were super friendly and helpful and enthusiastic about our enthusiasm. It was great. I got the Half Moon Bay Burger: Roquefort, blackened red peppers, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions and of course a special sauce. The burger was done right, had enough fat so it wasn't dry and nasty and the bun was substantial and delicious. Oh, did I mention they offer SWEET POTATO FRIES? This is so uniquely American so obviously I got them. And they were spot on. To end the lunch I had a red velvet cupcake, that they gladly replaced for me when I received it, covered in walnuts (I'm allergic). The cupcake itself was a perfect level of moistness, and the frosting. Oh the frosting. Not cloyingly sweet, and had the perfect amount of cream cheese. I cannot wait to head back here for their blueberry pancakes/bacon combo some morning. (They have bottles and bottles of REAL maple syrup at your disposal...not to mention plentiful amounts of Heinz ketchup and HOT SAUCE. And some sort of caramel for their French toast.)
