This shop is one of my favourite in Borough Market, which is in turn my favourite food market in London. Borough Market may be touristy but if you look beyond cynicism, there are lots of amazing food and produce options around From its name, you may be able to guess that this shop specialises in all things French. It may be the smell of the duck sandwich that they sell for £5. Duck confit topped up with peppery leaves in a roll. Just don't tell your doctor but I think this is one of the best sandwiches in the market I also love their produce. They have yummy products in their fridge - whole lobes of foie gras and duck confit to name but 2. I've had some great rilettes and cheese from the deli counter. The shelves are lined with truffle salt, jars of goose fat, tins of cassoulet and even bunches of lavender The staff are very knowledgeable and will guide you through their products. If you purchase enough stuff, they'll even throw in a free gift Merci, mes amis!

Ahh... the good life...this is the place to marvel at a myriad of uniquely French culinary specialties without even crossing the Channel. Tins of foie gras tumble from just about every nook and cranny... goose, duck... all boastfully labeled with a declaration of their respectable pedigree. This being a French stall, it goes without saying that plenty of shelf space has been devoted to wine, but there are also jars of cassoulet and confit as well as less commonly glimpsed (around here), but nonetheless elegant sounding, preparations of various duck parts. There's also a charcuterie and cheese section, where you can take away a selection of appropriate nibbles for a nice wine tasting. I also find their gift baskets rather remarkable; resplendent with cans of escargot and grainy mustard and plenty of other intriguing little artisan jars with fascinating labels that my poor French prevents me from making out exactly what the contents might be - a veritable treasure trove for any quasi-foodie.

Sandwich = 6 pounds, +1 for to add cheese

Best sandwich I've had in London so far. I opted to add cheese for a pound extra... WORTH IT!! The ciabatta roll was perfect to hold up against the decadent duck, tender. It with some crispy bits in there. The chili sauce, sweet mustard, and cheese complemented it well. Give this a go when you're in borough market and you won't be sorry.

Cheesin' hard because I got that Duck Contfi sandwich

My wife I split the duck Contfi sandwich here and it was both incredible and delightful! We went on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, and there was 0 line. The sandwich is served on a crispy French baguette lined with a bed of arugula. The baguette has a crunchy exterior and the right amount of chew. The peppery taste of the arugula compliments both the baguette and the duck. The Contfi is cooked in a giant paella pan/dish. The flavor is bold and incredible! The duck is pulled and cooked so that it has a the right balance of crunch and tenderness. Of all the things we tried at the market, this was in my top 2 things to have (along with the chorizo sandwich just a few shops over). If you're making the trip here, take the £6 and get you a sandwich. And if there's two of you, go ahead and share it - you won't be disappointed!

I didn't eat this because I am not a fan of duck but my husband is and there for this review is for him. He was obsessed, with a huge smile from ear to ear as he ate his duck confit salad!

They are a producer/selector of artisan cheeses from Switzerland and are changing the way people think about Swiss Cheese. All of the unique products at Jumi Cheese are produced by four family-run dairies in the Emmental region of Switzerland. The cows that supply the milk for Jumi's dairies feed on fresh grass and hay, and the farmers start and end the process by hand. Their 'stall' is located in the Three Crown Square section of Borough Market and features a range of cheeses like Belper Knolle, a specialty of theirs, spahn, goat cheese, truffle cheese and more. They first came on my radar when I saw a video on social media featuring their 'brain cheese.' The cheese resembles small mammalian brains at various stages of decay with it's fuzzy layer of blue mold surrounding the fist size balls. This one of the mouldiest cheeses you can buy in the UK and for some strange strange reason.... I just had to try it. And so, I've had this bookmarked for years for the moment I'd be back in London. At first glance, the Blue Brain cheese looked a bit intimidating. Are we sure about this? Will my stomach survive this? The questions tried to dissuade us to no avail. At about £9.90, the cheese was more affordable than I anticipated. We bought one for the road and magically, it mostly survived hours in our bag, lol. If you plan on sightseeing more after the market, I'd suggest bringing a smaller cooler or find a small bag of ice or frozen veggies in a nearby store to keep it cool. Once we got home, we dug in. The cheese was very pungent! And despite it's appearance, this had to be one of the smoothest, most flavorful blue cheese I've ever had. Wow, I was pretty amazed and happy that we went for it. The flavor is strong, but not overwhelming and I honestly really liked it. We paired it with some crackers and jam (apricot or peach, can't remember which exactly) and it was the perfect way to end our evening. For the food adventurous, I'd definitely recommend trying the blue brain cheese ;)

If you're a regular there and you don't remember seeing a sign saying Italainate, it's because there isn't one! People know it as the Parma Ham and Mozzarella Stall. Indeed , it is listed as such on the Borough Market website As its nickname suggest, they specialise in just 2 products but the mozzarella and Parma ham are the very bst quality, imported directly from Italy. The stallholder, Philip Crouch sources directly from the producer, Saint Ilario The mozzarella is an unpasteurised buffalo mozzarella from Campagnia - they come in 100g and 250g sizes as well as in mini balls. They also do a delicious burrata, which has cream added into the cheese-making process to make the cheese even more creamy The Parma ham has an amazing depth of flavour - I actually prefer it to the more revered Iberico ham. This is moister and trades some saltiness for flavour. You can either buy the ham in sealed packs which is better if you want to keep it. However, I prefer to to get the freshly sliced ham which is better if you will consume it within a few days - doesn't usually last that long in my house So, when you're in Borough Market, swing round to their stall in the Green Market and try a sample. You'll be hooked!
