I'm not sure whether to give this place 3 or 5 stars!
First, let me explain the 5 star bits:
The family who own and operate it are lovely people! The lady of the manor bakes her own bread and cakes and makes her own yogurt and apple purée to serve at breakfast. The children are friendly and go out of their way to say hello to guests in the morning, and the lord of the manor is a cool guy! They have a super cute cat called Charlie, and 2 nice horses.
The rooms are cute and the house is really nicely decorated. The gardens are nice and the views from the rooms are fabulous, spoiled only by some wind turbines in the fields nearby.
So why 3 stars?
Well, remember that breakfast I mentioned? Turns out it costs 10€ per person per night and although the home made bits are good, you only get filter coffee and no eggs or cheese... And you'd expect breakfast to be included in a bed and breakfast!
And those cute rooms? Well the reason I said cute and not cosy is because they are cold! Although centrally heated, the radiators were cold and we had to turn on the electric heater to warm it up, which took about 12 hours! We had booked a day or two in advance so they could easily have turned it on in advance.
I was also a little bit disappointed that our beds weren't made again the next day, but each place is different I guess!
Overall we came away feeling more like we'd gone to stay with some relatives, which was kind of nice but not something I'd normally pay for! read more
