My girlfriend and I have discovered this neat little restaurant tucked in a side street with a nice little terrace while wandering around and visiting Evian-les-Bains.
Our attention was attracted initially by their dish of the day (duck magret) and by the fact that they had a deliciously looking vegan option in their menu - something most of the restaurants on the main street lacked and that was essential for my girlfriend.
When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated by the owner - very nice and friendly. The internal decoration was amazing, with fresh painting on the wall, a little golden buddha tucked away and some relaxing Antillais music in the background. Immediately warming in the cold winter weather, but would have been fabulous in the winter.
We were offered a couple of cocktails, with rum, both of which were absolutely delicious. We then followed up with a stable Antillais appetizer - cod accras and transited to the two dishes that attracted our attention.
Now, I am pretty picky when it comes to quality food and tend to have a lingering feeling that there is something missing unless it's perfect. Not that time around. The cocktails were on point, wines, even the cheapest ones by the glass were still very good. I can't even start talking about the main dishes and the appetizers - they were absolutely mindblowing! Duck cooked to perfection, vegetables that were steamed, but would form a perfect dish by themselves - everything, even the side dishes tasted absolutely amazing!
Given the quality of the main dish and the appetizers, we went ahead and ordered dessert (gourmand coffee). With crême brulée (lemony), baba au rum, blanc manger coco and coconut ice, it provided a good sampler of all the deserts of the restaurant. Once again, all of them were astonishingly good, with their own twist on every single of the dishes - from the lemony zesty flavor added to the crême brulée, to the baba au rum having amazing rum used as a base.
Overall, it is an amazing restaurant and I cannot recommend it enough.
