It is really difficult not to like this hotel and spa.
Set in a breathtaking Provence setting, this old convent-turned-five-star-hotel has excellent service, a beautiful l'Occitane spa, beautifully-kept grounds (and terrace gardens!) and two delicious restaurants. Oh and did I mention the heated outdoor pool?
The standard rooms can be a bit small (after all, they used to be inhabited by ... nuns). But they are all very well appointed, the beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms (waterfall shower and separate tub+ his and hers sinks) are very modern.
It is absolutely perfect for a romantic weekend getaway - or perhaps even a weekend with the girls. It's just an hour drive from the Aix-en-Provence train station. I would recommend booking the spa in advance - seems like weekends can get crowded - and eating at any one of the two restaurants (Bancaou, by the pool, and le Cloitre - the gastronomic restaurant with chef Philippe Guerin) at least once, even if it does get pricey.
It's also a great spot to visit any of the surrounding villages - the area is so incredibly beautiful. read more
