Upon our arrival, we were immediately consumed with the overall aesthetic and attention-to-detail that was given on this beautiful villa. This place had a true French vibe--all the way down to the mini cooper in the driveway, surrounded by terra cotta potted plants and a private, well secured courtyard. The rooms make you feel as though you've lived in France your entire life and you open up the windows to hear the sound of church bells. Our room had a back terrace with clear, open views of the sky. To me, this place is a must. If you find yourself in Avignon, you have to stay at the Villa Margot and enjoy the care taking by Meris. Her welcoming "petit fille" dog and roaming kitty were a great companion in the villa.

It requires a car to reach as it…read moreis situation in the small town of Gargas but once there is it easy to ride to local towns or walk to the beautiful Roussillon for the Wednesday morning market. Pulling up to the gated doorway to La Mas Jorel we were welcomed by the charismatic Marc. We were lost for words at the stunning accommodation, fountains, wheelbarrows dripping with flowers, le chat x3, hammocks, vines and a pool with day beds, couches - the works. There were repeated exclamations of 'shut up' this is not happening to us. It is THE highlight of our honeymoon, without doubt. Marc immediately took us under his wing and gave us an itinerary for the three days of our stay. He informed us of hidden towns, places that might be heavy with tourists and the best local food and wine. We obliged his enthusiastic choices and were thrilled with everything he suggested. The walk along the path to Roussillon was a highlight as was the foraging for baguettes and Verve Clique (bought for 32 euro at Gordes) which we ate for dinner by the pool. Simple, earthy perfection. I want to move in....
