For Americans please realize this is a real French restaurant, not a tourist or Americanized French restaurant. We definitely had ideas in our head of some of the dishes which were not reality. For the steak tartar we expected a small portion and cuts of actual steak, not ground meat. After asking around and more research this is how French food should be served but we just weren't ready for it!

This place has very charming character and great views of the water. The tomato and burrata salad was excellent. Enjoyed the sea bass as well. Lots of great options along this strip in Cannes.

3 course meal with wine for lunch when my tour bus stopped by in Cannes. Started with a Nicoise Salad, chicken Marsala and gelato/sorbet. The Sauvignon blanc was refreshing!

So we asked for a takeaway box and this is what they gave us.

Food was good and ambiance was okay. They accommodated us immediately with no wait time. Our server was ok, not too friendly compared to La Perle (next door). Highlight of the meal was the vanilla ice cream container for our togo/take away box. The paella is a big serving so if you want to try other menu items, just get the Paella that is good for 2 people as they have a big serving. I wouldn't mind going back to try the other seafood items.

Typical Cannes seafood restaurant. Tables that are next to the sidewalk and then deeper into the restaurant where tables are on top of one another. Service was very good. We ordered a nice dry French white wine and bottled Perrier and looked over their primarily seafood selections. This one had a prix-fix menu including appetizer, main course and dessert. I don't recall it being overly expensive but I was there as a client so didn't pay the bill. We started with oysters and grilled sardines. The oysters were delicious (although I'd prefer them with cocktail sauce which is definitely a U.S. thing) - these were served with lemon and mignonette (a vinegar based sauce). The grilled sardines came with a lemon beurre blanc which I could've put on anything it was so delicious. I then had branzino which came with vegetables and more of the delicious lemon beurre blanc. For dessert we had creme brûlée and an apple tart, both delicious. A good meal all in all. After 8:30 restaurant gets extremely crowded and loud so get there about 7 if you want to not have others sitting on top of you.

Wow, what a miserable experience. I asked the concierge at my hotel (The Intercontinental Carlton) a month in advance for suggestions, and they recommended this place. I saw it was also Michelin recommended, so I made the reservation. Fast-forward one month. 7:55pm: We arrive at the restaurant for our 8pm reservation. No reservation could be found by them. Even "without" a reservation, they say they could still get us a good tables upstairs. We go upstairs to be directed to a bad table, and are handed menus. 8:15pm: The waiter comes by, and takes our orders awkwardly and hurriedly 8:30pm: The waiter comes with the wine (the bottle already uncorked). He pours me a taste, waits approximately two seconds, and starts pouring my wife's glass before I could even get the taste into my mouth. For reference, every other table we saw had their wine presented properly and we selected mid-range wine. I notice, as the time passes, that all the other diners are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of food at their table. 9:05pm: first course finally arrives. It's slightly above average... by American standards. 9:25pm: second course arrives. Worse than the first course. 9:45pm: dessert course arrives. It felt like it came off of an ice cream truck 10pm: I ask the waiter for the bill. It arrives in record time. On our way out, a hurried waiter body checks my wife for good measure. 10:30pm: I arrive back at the hotel to express my frustration to the concierge. They insist that the reservation was confirmed by the restaurant. This place is a disorganized mess that is either understaffed, doesn't take itself seriously, or both.

I had the Turbot with artichokes and veggies, it was absolutely perfect and delicious. A bit pricey at 50€ per person.

Situated in the center of the city, a little behind the Palais des Festivals. Ambience is warm and friendly. They have a patio and indoor seating on the ground floor, and a small charming balcony with 4 or 5 tables on the first floor - that's my favorite place, to observe beautiful and charming Cannes enjoying lovely dinner. We go there every time we're in town; I'd say have been there more than 10 times for sure. There is a raw "bar" and oysters menu, but of course, we are in France! Differently composed seafood plates, and other seafood a la carte, like my personal favorite rose shrimps, bulots (sea snails) or torteau (French crab). For appetizers try: artichokes carpaccio, raw salmon marinated, chopped raw crab and salmon tartare, mussels cooked different ways, escargot, scampi, sardines, lobster salad - all those are exquisite and flavorous. As for your entree: Poached or grilled Turbot, Hollandaise souse - my personal precious dish. I love Turbot and if I'm in France I'm ordering it all the time. Also they have John Dory, Sole, Salmon, Sea Bass, Lobster Thermidor and other assortment. Paellas: marinara or valenciana (for two minimum), and bouillabaisse too. As for meat: roasted duck filet, veal kidneys, beef filet prepared differently, veal escalope, lamb chops. I would highly recommend beef filet Rossini style with duck liver and steak tartar of course. Desserts in abundance: tart of the day, red fruit macaron, warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, lemon pie with merengue, sorbet and raspberry sauce, prunes in a red wine which I love a lot, l'ile flottante, iced nougat and other ice cream specialties. They offer multiple variations of menu as well, where you can choose of few options they give. The price is more than fare: 27-38 Euros. Despite the fact that the wine list here fits in 2 pages, the selection is quite good and the prices are more than reasonable. A separate section of Provence wines. But particularly demanding guests will be able to find such creations as Puligny-Montrachet, Vosnes Romanee, Bordeaux Grand Cru Classe and Champagne Cristal. Service is typical French: sometimes you have to wait for menus, sometimes they can forget to bring you something of your ordered. But cut them some slack, we're in France. And compared to some other places - this is averagely great service. So, think of it: delicious and lush food, sumptuous rich wine, nice and more or less attentive waiters and check for about 200 Euros for two, including dessert, after dinner drinks and coffee. More than acceptable, isn't it?! No Michelin stars, no performance, but gastronomic though, really high quality and just delectable. A place definetely to return to.

The chef himself even pitched in with helping serve, totally in sync with the owner. These two amazing guys totally changed my and my wife's perspective about how other restaurants are run - especially when tipping here is more of a courtesy and in the states many restaurants just add 18% on to your bill for gratuity regardless of the service you got. I left the owner just 10 euros and he was so thankful and graciously declined but promised he'd give it to the kitchen staff when we insisted that we just had to appreciate them with a tip. Unreal, awesome, classy, can't wait to return.

Tucked in a relatively quiet street (for Nice anyways), Bistrot Gourmand can easily be missed unless you happen to notice 1,100+ highly rated reviews that this gem of a restaurant has garnered. But if you do make it here, you will be treated to not only a culinary euphoria, but also a delightful, memorable service courtesy of the staff led by the Maestro himself, the manager Alex. To start, we noticed that the ambience and the music curated by Alex are different from all the other restaurants we've been to in Paris, Nice, and Monaco. There was an intimate feel that is countered by his fun eclectic musical taste that somehow works together with Alex's charm and bravado to entertain us and other tables (the other two parties were also on first name basis with Alex, as they were returning patrons of the restaurant). After having our orders taken, we were then surprised by our lovely waitress with an off-the-menu presentation of an amuse bouche to whet our appetite for what's to come. It was refreshing and playful. If there was a slight blemish with our meal, it was the Gaspacho de Courgettes (courgette gazpacho with soft-boiled eggs, basil hollandaise, and crispy onion). For my taste, it was a little too polite in flavor and needed the side of housemade brown bread with its slight saltiness to assist it. It was still good, but I would like just a bit more. The good news is that from here on everything it was smooth sailing across our Côte d'Azur of an experience. The wine of choice was Château Malbec Bordeaux, a fantastic red wine with a delicious initial taste and smooth satisfying finish. It was versatile and complimented everyone's dishes. And speaking of dishes, I had the exquisite Linguines à La Crème et Truffe d'été (Linguine with cream and truffle and). Don't let the short description fool you because this dish was heavenly, the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes just you can further savor the delicious flavor and balance of the pasta, the buttery truffle, and surprisingly light Crème sauce that was not heavy on the oil. I simply couldn't get enough with every bite and this is without a doubt my favorite dish from my time in France! If you enjoy beef tartare, you'll definitely enjoy the Tartare de Boeuf, as "prepared with a knife, potatoes with Provencal herbs." Our lovely waitress took tableside center stage as she mixed various ingredients from raw egg and minced raw beef to herbs and Worchister sauce with ease and precision to create a delicious, savory dish full of bold flavors that you can distinctly taste each individual flavor. Finally, the main event arrived upon us as Maestro Alex rolled out his cart to create our dessert, the Crépes Suzette, façon Bistrot Gourmand. This was worth the ticket going in, as the spectacle elevated our dining experience to another level. Pulsed by a mix of a lively music that started with the Rocky theme, Alex really put on a show with panache and enthralling commitment. It was truly a fun spectacle that is best experienced in person. The best part was that the Crépe Suzette was truly magical in its taste. There was sweetness and slight nuttines that paired well together. Since Tour de France 2024 is only a few days away from its Stage 21 finish at Nice, I can confidently say that Bistrot Gourmand is THE summit finish, the culinary highlight of our travels in France. It was the best way we could've ended this last week in France, and it is now the standard that we will judge our foodie experience going forward as we embark into Italy for the next 2 weeks. Florence and Rome have a lot to live of up to now! In the mean time, for any future visits back to Nice, we will definitely dedicate at least one or two dining experience back at Bristot Gourmand. Chapeau Alex and the staff, and hats off to the chef!

I made a reservation for 4 people, but one person in our party was feeling sick so only 3 people showed up. When the waiter (I think he was also the owner) asked us if we wanted wine, we said no and he scoffed at us (perhaps thinking we wouldn't be spending enough money there). Our friend ended up showing up to dinner to say bye to us. He didn't order any food, because he didn't feel well enough to eat. When he told the waiter he wasn't eating, the waiter took his utensils, took his napkin and threw it at me and shoved the bread basket away from him... and this was after the three of us had already ordered food. It was shockingly rude. None of us had ever experienced that before. When we told the waiter we were no longer interested in eating there anymore. He screamed, "We serve food here, you have to buy food. There's pizza down the street!" This was absolutely the weirdest and rudest experience I've ever had in a restaurant. If you read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, many others have had similar rude experiences too.
