This evening, by chance, I stopped into Le Letrin off the main plaza in Avignon. I ordered the…read morefoie gras with an accompanying vin blanc. The waitress recommended another, less expensive bottle, which she felt was a better match to the meal. And she was right. Both were delicious.
She and I had a chat about where she was from (Burgundy) and where I was from (Tucson, Arizona) and then a lovely mousse au chocolat appeared as her gift. Does traveling get any better than this?!
Maybe it's not haute cuisine, but it's very friendly, warm Provencial
cuisine at an affordable price.
