INTERNATIONAL BUYERS BEWARE: My fiancee and I purchased a painting from Galerie le Capricorne in June 2019, which was to be shipped to the United States. When the painting arrived, the frame was severely damaged. Despite being assured, in writing, that the shipment would be insured, the gallery subsequently informed us that they would be unable to reimburse us for the damage, and in fact the shipping company informed us that the gallery specifically did NOT elect to insure the shipment. The customer experience after discovering this has been extremely poor and the gallery has repeatedly been unable to provide any proof of insurance on the shipment, and have effectively told us that the issue is no longer their problem.
We are lucky that the painting itself was not damaged, but in light of our experience we would STRONGLY caution any customers of Galerie le Capricorne to be aware of this issue. read more
