SETUP: 20-day vacation in Europe August 2011.
CAST: Three die-hard foodies.
RANK: Woohoo is right - friendly staff, outstanding food! 2 entrees, 8 glasses of wine, 2 desserts - all for $80US
We had just flown in to Paris last night and were walking up and down a main drag where we were staying. There was nothing particularly wrong with what we saw, but we want something quiet and small. We had circled back and found this restaurant, with a very friendly man named Yves who invited us in. The prices were close to 1/2 that found on the main drag - that's a good thing since the dollars in bad shape.
Yves recommended the fish stew and brought for dessert a sweet cream dessert with grapefruit - absolutely the best dessert so far in Europe (we've been to London, Stockholm and Bristol so far). The staff were very friendly - as well as the patrons. One of the best experiences - one of the best meals.
I tipped Yves an extra 10 Euro - he wanted to make sure I understood tips **ARE TYPICALLY INCLUDED IN THE BILL IN FRANCE** - but I went ahead and gave it to him anyway. He also advised to always eat at places off the main drag - they are cheaper and better. He is right! read more
