Loads of French style atmosphere and sunny light in Le Cafe Journal. Charming and very friendly service. Delicious coffee and many home made tempting pastries and other morcels. Not cheap, but well worth it.
Back room is a dark cavern and a complete surprise with a quite different 'evening' feel to it. Lots of interesting second-hand books and some unusual food lines on display, much of it for sale. Owner is Brazilian and very interested in alternative foods and complementary medicine. They do evening meals, too, if ordered in advance!
The shop has a very loyal and quite cultured and diverse clientele, lending a special atmosphere, almost like an inclusive club of friends and like-minds.
Definitely worth a try and VERY different from say, the brazen 'Costa' teenagers cafe just up the road.So complete your Warminster shopping trip with a visit to this unusual haven of continentale cuisine.
One small snag is that there is not a lot of seating space in the popular front of shop area, so time your visit, carefully, order imaginatively, and read some good quality papers provided by management while you are waiting for your choice of coffee or tea and tit-bits to arrive! The discreet samba music and Portuguese songs will intrigue you.
Enjoy!
