Wouldn't hesitate to come back if I'm ever in London again. I had their english breakfast and really enjoyed the meal. Especially the cherry tomatoes and grilled portabello.

Its quite stylish inside with a huge bar that mostly dominates the café. The tables are quite close together and there isn't much room to move in between. We only came in for drinks but asked for a lunch menu to see what they were serving. Well, when we saw a tuna melt on a whole grain roll there was no way we could turn that down! (Love tuna melts!). We were served quite quickly and both servers were lovely. Our drinks arrived first and although it looked pretty it was in no way practical. My hot chocolate (hot...) had been served in a glass with no handle. I had no idea how I was meant to pick it up! So in the end I got a napkin and kinda held it with that. Our tuna melts were delicious and very filling. Two drinks plus two tuna melts and service (which was included on bill - which I don't like. I would rather decided how much to pay...) came to £19.60. Which I think is a little expensive. I did enjoy my lunch and I would visit again, but I may try somewhere else first.

We ordered two small (175ml) glasses of the Shiraz/Cabernet and a bottle of fizzy water. (The bill was a bit steep at 19 quid, I thought). The wine could have done with being poured from a great height into the glass. It just needed opening up a little, but was a little metallic and not worth whatever we paid for it. The ambience was ok for a Tuesday night - about a third full of 'Wharf' workers (apparently there is no other wharf in London when you work near here...). There was only one other table occupied upstairs with us, which suited us fine as we were having the most interesting conversation that was probably best not overheard. The service was friendly, but a little too insistent. We took an hour to drink a glass of wine and bottle of water, and we were asked around seven times if we wanted any more wine or to order some food. That's a little under ten minutes between visits, which wasn't too bad, but since we could clearly see the waitress, it wasn't strictly necessary. The decor is pretty cold and nothing about this place is very inviting. Still, it's convenient for my friend's work and perfectly easy to be in - just don't expect stunning wine or for the other patrons to be all that interesting.

Get's busy on Thurs & Fri but still less rammed and slightly more civilized than most places in the wharf. Only potential downside is the numbers of BarCap senior management that always seem to crop-up here, but as long as you don't mind making sure you don't spill your beer on Bob & co it's all good!

Finally made it in for wine and nibbles, and am so happy I did!…read more Our group of 3 found a cozy candlelit table in the back, and order a selection of wines by the glass that were on offer and very reasonably priced, between £4.50-£5.50 per glass. The menu is small but has all the essentials that a wine bar should have- charcuterie and cheese, tapenade, bread olives etc. After one glass we decided to try a bottle, and on recommendation by the staff ordered a lovely red from the cote du Rhone region, which was lush and velvety and fairly priced at £17.50 (plus £5 corkage to drink in). Lovely atmosphere with very friendly and knowledgable staff, great spot for some casual drinks and bites!

All of the wines are excellent value and there is a really interesting range of European focused wines to choose from(mainly French and Italian). They also have a really good lineup of local beers. The staff know everything on the shelves and will guide you in the right direction depending on what you like and budget. They also have wines by the glass that rotate regularly and are around the £4-6 mark. They are now doing a simple but really well-executed menu of food: mainly focused on charcuterie, cheese and different flavoured bruschettas. So similar to what the other wine bars are doing around London but a little bit better. Their burrata is large but disappears very quickly from the table... All of their cured meats are delicious too. If you need to get out of the house in the morning it's a great place to read a book/newspaper and enjoy a beautiful Italian roast coffee and some sourdough toast. You can also buy this bread to takeaway.

On the night we visited, the door staff were working hard to politely keep out people wearing trainers or dressed too informally, but anyone in smart casual wear was welcome. The clientelle was a mix of ages, but mainly groups of women and couples. They have a garden area at the back, which should be nice in the summer, and a cocktail bar upstairs, which was very quiet when we had a look. Definately worth a try if you fancy a few glasses of wine or a cocktail in South London.

After hours, they open up the downstairs, bring in a dj, and let the dancing go in full swing. Prior to that, you'll probably be upstairs with a nice crowd of people having wine or cocktails. Beer in bottles if you must, but beware the choices are a bit limited - it is a wine bar after all! And compared to central London, wow it's cheap. It's a fun place, and probably a bit of debauchery might ensue, but you'll have fun at Mordens. While still pretty close to central London, it's certainly a different feel - and you'll probably be surrounded by English people!
