Just went to Falafelhaus for the third time today. Never again!…read more
Whatever you do, don't argue with the old man in charge. No item on the menu is up for discussion. Don't want the side of flatbread? Throw it in the bin. You're getting it, whether you want it or not!
I committed the cardinal sin of trying to combine two orders (Foul and Manakish). I think the old man must've had a "mind blown" moment - in any case, he couldn't compute.
He doubles down and refuses any further discussion. Threatens to not serve me if I continue talking. Practically a Mexican standoff, me with 4,50€ in my hand, his posed dangerously over the cash register.
You're a long, long way from any concept of "hospitality" or "customer service" in this joint. Expect mildly Lebanese cuisine with all the stubbornness of a German school cafeteria.
Pros:
close to university
fairly priced, by Braunschweig standards
pick'n'choose your own salad ingredients
top-notch authentic Soup Nazi experience (for the masochists)
Cons:
long waiting times
veggies are as Lebanese as Angela Merkel
customer service feels like fisticuffs at the Arbeitsamt
Shame, because there's only one other place in Braunschweig that does proper Falafel: Falafeli, just down the road. Go there instead. The lady running it won't hate you when you have a request.
