This place is highly rated in other places we found and of course it wields a Michelin star. Therefore, we came with high expectations. Behind the veil of gastronomic techniques and gaudy plating, the flavors simply don't come through.
We got the sea anemone soufflé, tuna carpaccio, and fish soup to start. The soufflé came in an impressive two dishes. But it was just OK, the bitter seaweed sauce, the foam, the sea anemone ice cream just didn't do it for me. It tasted like swallowing sea water in the least pleasant way. The fish soup was flavorful and the only thing that comforted my tastebuds. It was our substitute for the bouillabaisse which was a shocking 90 euros each so we opted out. The tuna carpaccio was basically non existent. It came on a large plate but only filled a corner. For my main course, I was disappointed by the preparation of the rockfish with confit tomato. The seasoning rendered the meat just salty and bland. The head that came with the dish was way over salted. Again, just a swallow of sea water.
This restaurant has all the building blocks of greatness but it just missed the mark for me. read more
