I have been a client of Brow Theory for a while, but unfortunately I had never been able to fill my card with enough stamps to claim a freebie, because with a schedule that's a bit all over the place and haphazard beauty routine - I rarely found myself with enough time to get out to Armadale or remember in time to book in one of the popular Wednesday/Friday sessions they did at Miss Fox. Having tried other places more convenient to me in the meantime and having suffered from uneven brows and horrible patchy red skin for up to a week following, I was thrilled to see them open a permanent home in the CBD. This will forever be my go-to now and I *may* even maintain the things now instead of waiting for them to be gross to get them fixed! I popped in today for their opening special to get a full shape up before having lunch with my best friend. The only girl I would let lunch with me with firey-red patchy skin. Only I didn't have that problem. In fact she commented that apart from being meticulously neat, she couldn't even tell that I just had them done. Brow win. The staff are incredibly lovely and good at what they do. My brows are an awkward shape and will never grow properly thanks to a bad waxing job as a teenager, but the girls always discuss what they're going to do to make them as even as possible to make me feel comfortable before they attack them with thread. The staff are always ridiculously happy and friendly, I walk out of there with a smile - and some very fine brows. The ladies will ask how you'd like your brows styled, checking after each brow that you're happy. Don't worry if you're a newbie, I have taken plenty of people here to have their first threading experience and the staff are always happy to provide some friendly guidance. The store can be a little tricky to locate as it's tucked down Royal Arcade, you can access from Bourke Street Mall or Elizabeth Street. I don't make an appointment and haven't had to wait longer than 5 mins.

Noting that it's pretty convenient for one who works in the city, the $10 price tag on getting your eyebrows threaded and looking shmick is very well worth the 10 minute wait. I give this place four stars instead of 5 because there have been a couple of times I left feeling less than a girl who runs the world. Today however was a very good day.

I've been going to the Emporium store for almost 2 years now for eyebrow threading/cleanup. The…read morequality really REALLY depends on which lady you get. Some are nice/polite and do a good job without rushing. Some are extremely rude (basically ignoring you apart from pointing to the chair for you to sit) and don't do a good job (uneven, over-threaded, thin brows with patches of unthreaded hair on the eyelid area). I generally put up with the rude workers and not so good work because of the cheap $10 price tag. Today, the job they did was UNACCEPTABLE. I have never had my brows done this badly, regardless of which brow place I've been to. All workers in the store (there were 4 in total) ignored me when I walked in. They were laughing and talking in a side rest room for employees and no one bothered to even say hello until after they had finished talking/joking. This was an 10 minute wait in a store that had only 2 customers and 4 workers. The brow lady left several very obvious patches of unthreaded hair on my eyelid area. She did not pay attention to her work at all (talking and laughing with other workers in their own language right over my head) and it showed. She somehow ripped out two hairs so violently that I now have two RED SCABS right under my brows on the eyelid. They are extremely painful and have been bleeding slightly over the last 30 minutes. She didn't even offer me aloe gel afterwards, and just immediately marched over to the cash register (even while I was gathering my things/handbag). I don't know if this place recently changed management or just stopped caring, but the work they do is unacceptable. The rudeness of their employees is shocking every time, without fail. And after this incident with the red scabs I will NEVER be going back there to put up with it again. Hopefully the red scabs/cuts ripped under my brows will heal cleanly. If they get infected or scar, I will be going back to the store to lodge a formal complaint.

For my very dark and noticeable brows, I go to one of the fancy joints that will thread for $35 but you need to book in advance and I always forget until they get really unruly. I have walked past Miss Brow Bar every time I've been to the South Melbourne Market and noticed they only charge $22 and accept walk-ins, offering quite a fast and friendly service. So I decided to finally give them a go. The girls were lovely. The chairs were very rickety and I felt like I was going to fall off the whole time, which did make me a tad nervous about losing a brow, but it was fine. It was over and done with in a flash. Upon inspection at home, I noticed quite a few strays and it wasn't as clean as my normal job. The redness has stuck around for 2-3 days so far which I've never had before. Never the less, pretty happy with the end result and it wasn't anything a tweezer couldn't fix and my fringe couldn't disguise. I would recommend them for touch ups and people happy with the existing shape of their brows. For new shaping or if you're unsure what you're after, I'd probably pony up the extra dosh.
