The two items we ordered were both SO good. We ordered some sort of toast that has almond butter, hazelnut butter, jam, and coconut flakes. It had the perfect amount of sweetness to satisfy a slight morning sweet tooth. The other item we ordered was the bowl of the month (or maybe it's the bowl of the week?) It, too, was wonderful, and so filling! Grounded is really cute and cozy inside, but I will say that it was HOT in this small space. Also, there isn't much seating in here. Maybe enough for 12-15 people. Still, the food here is incredible and the man working at the counter was so kind. Definitely stop in here if you can!

The culture and history are amazing (which are givens) but what will totally knock you off your feet is the food. People will tell you that but it will still shock you when you put a pastry or a bite of a galette (of the sort from the Brittany region) in your mouth. Okay, all of that is to say that while there are great things to experience in Paris, you will find that service is not exactly what one would call friendly or hospitable. I get it, I'm an American and Yanks are entitled and pompous. I totally understand that and I know that no matter how much I jump up and down, shouting to you that I'm not that way (especially since I'm the child of immigrant parents of an extremely humble background), you will remain skeptical. That's okay. I have come to understand that Parisians are not what we here in the States would consider exactly "warm." But I accept the cultural difference and am more than happy when I can have a cordial exchange with business owners/managers and their employees. I don't speak French, but I learned the obligatory "Parlez-vous anglais?" in deference to the country's official language. I heard the cashier speak English to the customer in front of me but when it was my turn, both she and the manager on shift looked at me blankly so I politely (and timidly) asked my question. The man acted indifferently and said flatly, "A little." So I ordered my cappuccino, feeling embarrassed. I paid and left. I understand that Parisians are tired of Americans and their expectation that everyone speaks English (I have witnessed this and know it to be generally true) but when your customer tries to communicate with you and your place of business is in an international airport (8th busiest in the world in passenger traffic, at that), you would think you could be a bit more understanding. I won't change the world or this place with my review, but there you have my two cents. Oh, and the cappuccino was quite good.

I didn't know what to expect as I wasn't sure what I was about to experience based on pictures. However, as we came in, the product was being prepared in the window. It's basically meringue with cream inside and outside. Each meringue is flavored differently, and chocolate with accompanying flavor is stick to the outside cream layer. When you bight into this magical cloud, you feel like you bight into a mass of airy cloud that is the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness. We tried the coffee and chocolate flavor, and both were divine. Given their numerous locations, you have a pretty good chance of walking into this magical cloud place. I suggest you visit it if you are ever in Paris, because my taste buds never experienced anything like this in the states.

They also overcharge quite a lot and it cost us €26 for 8! Had better ones at Pierre Hermé. Vanilla - Simple and delicious! Would have loved to save this one for the end to end on the best note. Rose - really really good! Flavor was nice and perfect amount of sweetness. Probably my favorite among them all. Pistachio - I usually always love a pistachio macaron but this one was just normal. No wow factor or anything. Raspberry - I had High hopes for this one but the filling was like a raspberry jam and didn't go too well with the macaron shell. A bit too overpowering. Orange Blossom - subtle but delicious. Not too strong of an orange flavor, but it was really nice overall. Lemon - horrible! It was actually bitter like lemon zest. I needed water to wash down my mouth after this. Passion fruit - too tangy. It was possible but I would not buy this.
