I've actually been a patient myself here and they've always taken care of me. But this time when the lingual wire behind my bottom teeth had broke and was tearing up my tongue ( talk about pain!) over the course of a few days and seeing their office is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I promptly called Monday morning and left a message ( which I had to recall them because they never got back to me ) then to my dismay after explaining what I thought to be a rather sudden emergency, I was told they couldn't fit me in for another 10 DAYS !!! I was out of my mind crazy, especially since I've spent 12 years going there (4 years for each child and myself) and I know they usually have a morning window for emergencies. The woman who I was talking to made me feel like she was DOING ME A FAVOR by giving me an appointment 10 days from now. Made me feel like it wasn't an emergency, well, I beg to differ on that. Because it wasn't tearing up HER tongue. Finally after having to raise my blood pressure on this call, she was going to have to get back to me because she has to "move patients around". She did call me back about two hours later and was able to get me in the next morning. Egad!!! I guess if things like these change so does my rating. Hence 3 stars.

Usually i'm not one to complain about a business, especially during COVID-19 -- but today took the cake. When they usually have us wait for the time being, we're super accommodating to it, we get it. Today on the other hand, it has been brought to my attention that not only did they change my sibling's appointment time, but the receptionist also yelled at them. It's evidently shown that we're not the only one that has experienced this issue, as there is a lot of comments regarding lack of communication AND scheduling. They were scheduled to come in at 4:00PM, as confirmed via text reminder, coming in at 3:52PM, reception tells them their appointment is at 4:40PM. My sibling states that their appointment was scheduled at 4PM, with proof. After showing said proof, reception has them sit for AN HOUR before being shown. Hour passes by, they take them in for x-rays, then have them go back outside with no further instruction. My sibling is texting me freaking out because they don't know how they haven't been seen them for their appointment (for their braces). Another hour passes by, it's literally 6 now. KEEP IN MIND THEY CLOSE AT 6. They ask when they'll even be seen, reception tells them "you were called" and my sibling states "I was in x-ray" . reception REPEATS like it's supposed to make a difference and the other receptionist had to vouch for them that they were legitimately in x-rays when they called. Ultimately, my sibling waited 2ish hours just to get x-rays, not to be seen by anyone, and an interaction with a passive-aggressive receptionist. Such a lack of communication in this setting. Be warned.

I cannot say enough about how great my experience has been. I was nervous getting adult braces but they made everything easy for me. I got clear ceramic braces but I could also choose from metal or Invisalign. The time frame they gave me was accurate and everyone in the office was very helpful and friendly always. I would recommend to any adult or family for braces.

Our daughter, age 13, was recommended to see an orthodontist for a consultation by her dentist. It was pretty clear she was going to need braces. We looked around at our options, and settled on a consultation with Owl based on proximity and patient reviews. After our consultation, we went with Owl without question. We've been a patient of Owl for many months, over six months now, I believe. We're fans of Owl for several reasons: ** The initial consultation was very helpful in understanding both our daughter's treatment plan, and payment options. ** Owl was very flexible with payments. We asked if we could pay very low monthly installments until I could apply for my health insurance HSA next year to pay off the bulk of the balance. They were very flexible and agreeable to this arrangement. ** I am forgetful with healthcare appointments. Owl does a great job with reminders when I need them. ** We primarily go to Owl on Hopkins, but if scheduling is an issue, you can go in for adjustments at any Owl location that has an opening. ** Our daughter has felt comfortable with the treatments, even now when she has to go in alone during pandemic times; she is very shy, so this is saying a lot to how welcoming and warm the orthodontia staff is here. Once we pay off and finish treatments for our daughter, our son will be on deck. We'll continue to use Owl for him when we get to that point, since we've had a stellar experience with both the orthodontia staff and office staff at Owl. The office, particularly Dr. Tyska addressed the situation. Consultations are complimentary, and the fee was promptly refunded. Dr. Tyska and his assistant Kristen showed genuine concern and listened to feedback, demonstrating a commitment to patient care. The professionalism and dedication to resolving the issue were impressive. My daughter will soon be getting here braces with Dr. Tyska. This recent experience shows me that patient satisfaction is prioritized and that the office is committed to resolving issues.

But recently, I had such an unfortunate interchange with their office manager and staff. I called to book an appointment for my daughter to get a quote on another round of braces (she never wore her retainers and teeth shifted back). The front desk told me there would be a fee for return clients but not for new clients. That didn't make sense to me so I said no thank you. I already received a complimentary consultation elsewhere with a quote. And they did NOT charge me. The front desk told me she would have someone call me back. Sure. I got a call back and told the same thing. Ok. Then I proceeded to cancel my appointment. The office (wish I remembered her name), said she would ask the doctors and call me back (again). Days later I received a call and told there would be no fee. Great. My husband brought my daughter yesterday and sure enough, I am charged $85.00. Called and spoke to the office manager. She handled it very poorly, and kept explaining that they did a lot of "extra's" and that the $85 was actually a great deal. The thing is, I didn't ask for any extra's. I just wanted to know if I would be paying the same price for another round of braces and to see if I could get some kind of discount as a returning patient. This manager made a point to say that there was no record of my previous conservations and therefore, she would not do anything. I have worked for years in private practice - Manhattan - selling elective medical cosmetic procedures. I understand how this works. It is not about the money but about the practice keeping their word and honoring their commitment to the patient. I spoke to them 3x before our actual appointment and they still charged me. I am so disappointed with how they now run their business. Very sad indeed.

He is the ultimate professional, kind, caring, gentle, extremely knowledgeable, and above all he puts his patients first. He will do everything possible to save your teeth and to me, that's what it's all about. His staff are very kind and compassionate and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease. Having had a dentist who damaged many of my teeth by trying to be a host of specialties under a " general dentistry" umbrella , I so appreciate the care , caution and concern that Dr Wendling has provided all of these years. He has an amazing bedside manner that , along with Stephanie , his assistant always leaves me grateful that the extensive work I have had to have done has been under their watchful eye and talented skill set! I highly recommend this practice to everyone who cares about their smile , health and general well being !!
