I did some waxing salon research and the one that called out to me the best was Lay Bare. They use natural ingredients - cold sugar wax, so it's safe for all skin types. Jazz Mall is my preferred branch because there's fewer people and I like the staff and service there the best. Anne, the girl who waxed me was super nice & friendly and made me feel totally at ease as she guided me though the smarts of pulling. They're hygienic, reasonably priced and they also sell their own cream to soothe your raw skin. I always try to go when I have extra cash, especially if it's summer. I suggest doing some research first before visiting but mostly likely you'll see all the information, reminders and tips you need on their website. It's also advisable to reserve instead of being a walk-in so you don't have to wait. I either call the salon or reserve on the site. :)

Unlike in Glorietta and Greenhills.

Hey ladies, if, like me, you find a hard time having to make a U-turn almost at the end of…read moreKatipunan Avenue just to get to Laybare for a wax, your problems have been solved! Hey Sugar! is a newly opened Waxing Salon at the ground floor of UP Town Center's mall that offers not only waxing services for both men and women, but also threading and eyelash extension. Although more expensive than the more popular waxing salon at the other side of Katipunan Avenue, the experience was definitely better. I availed of a hot waxing service for my legs because they had a 30% off on Hot Wax Services promo and I read somewhere that hot waxing is a better though more expensive option than cold waxing. I was reluctant to try hot wax at first, but my waxer was very reassuring. She even adjusted the heat level of my wax when I found it too hot at first application. After a while, I got the hang of it. My waxer was nice and courteous, and normally I don't like conversing while I'm getting waxed, but I loved speaking with her. The only regret I have was that I neglected to ask her for her name. When I go back, I'll find out for sure! As for the waxing service, you really have to set aside time when getting a wax. If you're looking for quick service, better try cold wax or cheaper waxing salons because Hey Sugar! values quality. My wax was 30 minutes long because my waxer made sure not a single strand of hair was left on my legs (I availed of the half-leg service). She even applied cold wax after the hot wax for the stubborn strands, and afterwards, a threading technique to take out the really tiny strands. I also love how it's All-Natural and All-Organic sugar wax that they use. Hooray for sustainable living!

I was charged ₱1035, but they said that Paymaya declined it even though I got a notification that ₱1035 has been deducted from my account. So I paid the same amount via gcash. The one who manages their Instagram page said they'll conduct an investigation. Took days before they responded, btw. When I followed up, they just told me to call the branch directly. Wow.

They're professional, straightforward, patient, and CLEAN to the highest extent. I went to the Strip Ministry in Greenbelt 5 and was under the best care of Joyce. She was very detailed and consistent with waxing, tweezing, and cleaning most especially. At first I figured that paying about 1,000php for a Brazilian wax would be a rip off but it is true that there are some things worth paying for --Strip is one of them. I recommend Strip (in GB 5). They have two other branches in Metro Manila which are located in Serendra and Megamall. For anyone worried about hot wax and pain, Strip will ease you into it like no one else.

Seriously fast that you won't even realize you're done. I've gone to other waxing salons and I've caught myself checking my watch many times to see how long I've been there. But that doesnt happen in Strip because their aim is to get things done quickly and to get you out of there. And even if they do the job fast, the quality of their service is still superb. They're the only waxing salon that doesn't hurt me at all. Hair removal can be painful and I already have high tolerance so I'm not sooo bad when it comes to other waxing salons, but with Strip, I've even dozed off a bit during a session since there was hardly any pain. I'm so glad I found Strip and I really can't no longer go back to the other waxing salons now.

It is a small space. They have a couch when you walk in and then at the back are 4 chairs where you get eyebrows done then two rooms for waxing. I usually get the brow tidy for 185P. I think this is a really good price and they do a good job. I know they do because people notice my eyebrows. Haha :) They are really accommodating I needed to charge my phone and I didn't have the lil box part that you plug into the wall and I just had the cord so I asked if they had one and they did! Yet its location actually perfectly highlights the need for an oasis for those who either sit in front of their computers all day long or who are always on the go. Nailfinity at Taft Avenue is located at the Third Floor of the same building that houses Tokyo-Tokyo and Goldilocks beside Benilde's Taft Campus, directly facing the LRT. You'd expect the place to be noisier given the area, but Nailfinity is actually a picture of calm and quiet. Here, on oversized chairs the covers of which are colord-coordinated with the salons walls, curtains, and even towels, customers freely doze off or lazily thumb through magazines while the salon's personnel tinker with their hands and feet. (Hair removal rituals understandably take place behind closed curtains.) For those who believe that mani-pedi is the cure for all maladies (hooray, fellow Legally Blonde fans!), Nailfinity offers both gel and regular mani-pedis. And take note, they have the good nail polish brands like Orly, which, at other salons, would entail extra cost. Not at Nailfinity. Did you know that a mani-pedi-foot spa combo here costs only Php 400? Sometimes they even throw in free eyebrow or underarm waxing with that. How's that for a steal?

I've heard so many stories about the pain and some no-so-good experiences that I wouldn't wish on anybody. But sometimes, a girl needs to grow up. So off to Lay Bare Waxing Salon I went, hand-in-hand with a good friend of mine. I was hoping that my friend could go inside the cubicle with me to hold my hand, but Lay Bare has a strict policy of no companions. I was carefully briefed by my attendant of what to expect. She could tell by the way I acted that I was a waxing virgin. Apparently, Lay Bare does not use the typical hot wax that other waxing salons make use of. Instead the use sugar wax jelly which is made up of sugar, calamansi and honey, all natural ingredients to make that sticky paste. My underarms were the first to be devirginized from waxing. While it was painful, the pain was tolerable. Okay, so I guess it wasn't too bad. After waxing my underarms, waxing my legs felt like a walk in the park. I was told that the worst type of waxing is when they a Brazilian. I guess you'll have to wait for my next review for that .
