This was a simply a magical lunch. When you arrive by boat to Grindö, you come into a small harbour with very typical Swedish red houses all around you. One of which is Laxboa. A charming restaurant which also sells salmon in many different forms for people to take away and enjoy in their favourite setting. However you won't get much of a better setting that where the restaurant is situated, overlooking the sea so that you can watch the boats coming and going. We were greeted firstly by the owner and then by one of his young assistants who showed us to our table (one of two long tables which seat about 8 people each). He went away and fetched us back some water from the island and then some very delicious freshly homemade bread. The bread came with butter and an excellent aioli. Then came the main event, warm smoked salmon stuffed with a little cream cheese and chives served with an excellently seasoned salad consisting of new potatoes, sugar peas, asparagus, tomatoes and red onion. There was a honey and mustard creme fraiche to accompany all of this. The salmon was beautifully seasoned and still had the fish oils in it (unlike some smoked salmon). After the main was eaten (might I say in near silence due to the fact that everyone was enjoying it so much) came dessert. I had a lovely cheesecake with raspberry sauce and a coffee. All in all this was well worth the trip out and I would thoroughly recommend it! read more
