I can't even give star rating our experience was so bad. First of all I doubt they have a Chef...think it's one of those friend of a friend that's use to cook somewhere. The food was disgusting. We should have figured there was a problem when we got there. The people who were seated and making their order before we were seated had ordered well done steaks. Anytime it takes well done steaks 45 minutes to be served...we ordered Shrimp Cocktail Clam Chowder and the so call famous Prime Rib Dinner...medium rare 10oz and 16oz cut. The people next to us asked about their steaks as we got word after being served a luke warm Shrimp Cocktail (crackers stale kept them at the table cause didnt know when or if we would get to eat)which you should always be leary of that the Clam Chowder didn't look good and the waiter said he couldn't serve it. Then the steaks for the people next to us can a 45 minutes to cook well done ...you know what happened there. Then waiter said I am going back to check on your Primes he came out a said in a couple minutes....well they came. I was a Sous Chef in San Diego Mission Valley Inn ran Steak House Banquet Room and the coffee shop and never have I seen or served anything like what we were served. Right off the bat it was not medium rare and the cuts were way off on ounces...way off. At the same time the people next to us asked if they were served a 7 oz steak and that they ordered well done not burnt. Yes, we sent both primes back and the waiter agreeded they weren't cut or cooked right per our order. Anytime it takes over a half hour at restaurant dinner hour to get a medium rare prime rib, the restaurant has problems! The waiter took the primes back...and said the owner wasn't there but he took a picture of the plates and sent them to the owner to see...oh and a sorry about that. What has happened to Laws? What concerns me is what's really going on in that kitchen that we don't know about....a Chef, Sous Chef or good kitchen staff would have never ever let this happen even if they didn't know what they were doing pride would and should have taken over.....Somebody was seriously on one....just be aware. This past Saturday, my God Daughter booked a party for her birthday. About 20 of us. THE SERVICE SUCKED SO HERE WE GO She asked all the right questions when reserving the spot. Only one tablecloth for 3 tables, no lights not even candles. We started to order and halfway through were informed that the kitchen was closed 3 hours early for their full menu so the rest of the party had to order off their late menu. Poor service, no table settings, most of us did not get our food, had to hunt her down or go to the bar for refills. The other 3 parties GOT their food. The waitress tended to others most of the night. Had it not been for my God Daughters kind heart we would have left. Some us were able to have our orders cancelled. Mine was comped because it too 3 hours and I still did not get my entree. We were told families and children were welcome and then informed, no children after 10pm Luckily the children in our party were very well behaved. One of the children she specifically asked for a cheese burger and fries with pickles and got 3 sliders with everything on them and potato salad!!!!! Wow The waitress also could not take all the orders at once even with separate checks. The only time she came back was to take more alcoholic drinks NONE OF US TIPPED HER. And I wrote on my receipt just how poor her service was and she tried to blame it on the kitchen staff! We went for Karaoke Saturday night. Very nice place. Very diverse crowd. Like how there are different sections appealing to 4 different types of crowds. Karaoke was out on the patio. It was a beautiful night. The DJ was super nice and entertaining. There was a nice man walking around he sang beautifully and very nice to everyone. We asked out server and she said he was the owner. Nice to see the owner there and involved. Besides the fact we sat right next to were people come out to smoke. The night was fun. It was super loud some people just don't know when to back off the mic. Could have been turned down just a smidge. Our server Kennedy was amazing. All in all nice people nice place good service. To be fair my meal here tonight was delicious. My steak and asparagus were amazing as always. I'm wouldn't consider myself a regular but I do come here frequently with my family. While my visits are generally pleasant tonight I experienced some of the worst customer service ever! I'm not sure if our waitress was new but she ran my credit card (as well as my nephews card) three times and yeah I get it mistakes happen but three times is sorta unacceptable. I asked to speak with the manager and at first he came over with a smile on his face. When I voiced my concern his tone changed and he said "she only did it twice" I showed him my online statement with the three charges and he says very rudely "what do you want me to do? Sorry? I'm not giving it to you for free! I'll talk to her!" To be honest I was just bringing it to his attention and had the tone been a little more receptive instead of the I-don't-really-give-a-shit one I got I would have left my usual happy self. I will NEVER eat here again, after as long as this place has been in business!! I ordered a $29 medium rare Rib Eye to share with my daughter. With mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. After 20 minutes asked where our appetizer was, "I thought you wanted them with the meal ". Then they bring out dinner, already split, ok, the piece of meat was less than 1/8" thick covered in 1/2 of it in fat, half not cooked and half well done. I tried to not complain. And when I did the waitress was Great, agreed, got Manager, who looked at meal and walked away to get a new one. She brought a new one back over cooked, but at this point we were hungry and done, so we ate it. I don't expect anything for free at a restaurant, but you would think there would be some kind of discount for the inconvenience of having to wait 20 extra minutes for another meal, while the rest of the party was finished eating their dinners. We then got the check and we were charged for splitting our dinner we shared, seriously? With our being told that? Then after being charged full price, The woman manager told our waitress, "I fixed their meal" and she literally would not make eye contact with us as we walked right by her at the front door!! They have a limited menu because food is hard to get from suppliers and yes, there will be a wait to be seated at ALL establishments when they have to operate at 50% capacity to follow strict rules about social distancing. So very disappointed with Laws last night! It was Valentine's weekend, not actually Valentine's Day) so we wanted to go out for a fun day. Our first date was Karaoke, so we decide to go out, sing Karaoke, eat a few burgers and have a good time. We show up early because we had 15 more people showing up and we wanted to get tables. We show up stand at the entrance without even a greeting for at least 5 minutes. After a snarky, know-it-all, greeting from our snarky, know-it-all server, we were escorted to the patio, where we were informed that this was "her patio" and we could not push tables together....really? Ok, I get a fire hazard maybe, but her reason was it gets too hard to move around...you can't maneuver around two, four tops? We didn't need all the tables pushed together, but she would not put two get together? must....have....control... So after all this we are informed that there are only 5 choices for dinner the least expensive being $44 and most being $84. Really Laws? People are going on the patio drinking beers and whiskey and if they show up single they have to order a $50 meal to eat anything?? Not even a basket of chips to cut the alcohol? People were getting dangerously drunk...one had to be carried out drunk and they still wouldn't budge!! We were starving and split a $44 dinner between two. It reminded me of the rap song, "the chicken tasted like wood." They slapped two pieces of dry, unseasoned chicken on top of two pounds of blah rice on one plate and made us divvy it up ourselves! The menu and website said "two entrees." In most restaurants, this means two separate plates and not a dinner slopped on a platter. This servers attitude really needs to be reviewed. I can't tell you how many times she let us know it was her patio, she's worked there 5 years, she knows what's best for us even if we ordered or wanted something different..say dessert served in a plate and not in a box...??? We still had a good time because we take the party with us wherever we go and KJ saved that bad of a night...that's how good he was. He remembered our names and was the only friendly face there. He greeted us coming in and said goodbye to us by name. The second star is his alone. I will go back, eat first and enjoy the KJ...don't forget (like I did) to tip him. He's worth every penny he gets and probably saves Laws customers. read more

It has been a year since we last visited Laws. We use to go frequently because service and food were very good. Then, the owner changed the menu and food went downhill. Well, today. We decided to give it another chance...surely after a year things had to have gotten better. Our waitress, Kayla, was a sweetheart. Because we are an older couple and can't eat our own order we decided to share the prime rib sandwich. I did NOT tell our waitress to split the plate!! I said we always split (share) one order because we can't eat that amount anymore! We asked for our fries to be crispy not put in the grease 3xs where they were so crispy and hard you couldn't even eat them! We got our bill and was charged $3.95 for splitting the plate!! What?!?! I would have appreciated ahead of time if were going to be charged for sharing...now I will have to ask every waitress if they understand what I mean by "share" and are we going to be charged extra if we do We will not be back! Too bad! I believe they take advantage of seniors and by over over over cooking fries were making fun of us! Learn to respect your customers.! I gave this place a two because Kayla was great! Nice bar... Good music, friendly crowd, kareoke, dancing... But if you come later you might not get in cause they reached full capacity. Also, might be waiting 5-15 minutes to order a drink. And then 15-45 minutes just to close a tab even after asking the bartender. I would come back for the bar itself. But the service needs work. Waiting so so long at the bar for a drink or to close a tab is bad enough (seriously that long and bad) to not come again. Oh, but they did have kareoke on the outside and another dj with dancing on the inside, and a heated patio smoking section so that was nice... It's a 50/50 for me. read more

I love this place! I've been on several occasions and have had excellent times here. I came in on my Birthday and the bartender Shyla took care of me. I wasn't sure what to drink so I just let her know what type of alcohol and drinks I usually like and she made me some of the best tasting drinks I've ever had. The food was okay, I had the pork chop at first bite I thought it was good then I caught the taste of burnt meat. Not Good. The starter salad was soggy and the lettuce looked old, turning brown at the corners. My boyfriend had Philly cheese stake, nothing but fatty meat, took forever took get our food out. The place wasn't even crowded... I had asked for a glass of their Cupcake Moscato, I was told it only was sold by the bottle, so we got the bottle.... well when we asked for the check and asked for the bottle to be boxed I was informed that I either have to "Chug it down"(their words) or leave the whole bottle!! Really?! I just paid 20$ for a GLASS of moscato!! I really wish they had told me I couldn't tak my bottle home I wouldn't have even asked for it!
