I am a customer of Dr. Lawrence Metzger. I have had dental procedures performed in the past with other dental professionals and have had wonderful experiences.However, NOT THIS TIME.NOT THIS DENTIST. LEAVE IF HE WALKS INTO A ROOM !!!!!! I went to this dentist with a positive mind set. After all, a dentist who is able to perform sedative dentistry should be able to remove a tooth from a patient under a local . This dentist has very POOR bedside manner. He began to jab in my gum with the needles and did not take any time to prepare my gum or the roof of my mouth. When I began to holler, he said don't scream. He never asked once if i was ok or if i needed more time. He began to quickly try to pull the tooth out of my mouth as though he was on a clock and had to hurry into the next room to operate on the next patient. He was very RUDE and when i began to mumble no and moan , he ignored this and continued to pull on my gum. I held my hand up to stop the procedure. I have very long roots and it takes extra novacane when I get procedures done. When I held up my hand, it poked his eye. He became belligerent and began yelling I cant finish this with you. I said ok , I have dental insurance so you can itemize what you have done and i will leave because i have never been any where and had a doctor yell at me like this. When looking for a dentist, remember that a part of the dental creed is to do no harm. This man has harmed my spirit and i do not want others to experience this. RUN fast and FAR Away !!!!!!! read more

I continued to travel back to Fairfax to get my checkups to make sure the invisalign was moving my teeth appropriately, until I was complete with the treatment. Fortunately they had evening and weekend hours so it worked out well. Anyway, at that time I was considering a switch to a dentist in Richmond... I can't even remember where I looked them up... but talk about a horror of a dentist experience. It was somewhere in the RVA fan area... and all the dentist equipment was old and rusty looking and the customers their were literally psychotic... this probably happened 9 years ago... I still remember it like it was yesterday. I waited for awhile and the dentist called me in took the X-rays... mind you I was using my teeth to hold the biggest contraption known to man... not one thing I was used to... it looked like a contraption from the 70's and I just came from a super sophisticated dentist in Fairfax. I literally hurt my jaw holding it. The doctor had to go in and out to handle these other psychotic patients that had complaints... and after 45 min in the dentist told me I had to come back another time for a cleaning and an actual checkup. Seriously I was like definitely not! Long story short I actually out in a complaint with my insurance on the dentist. So for probably 5 or so years I continued going back to my dentist in Fairfax because I was too scared to try someone new. Then of course I got pregnant over 3 years ago and I finally thought to myself, I can't keep going to see the dentist in Fairfax. So I decided to take the plunge and see my husband's dentist Dr. Zentgraf... so glad I did. His team of hygienists are super nice as he is too and made me feel right at home. Also doesn't hurt that I haven't had any cavities since I've been going to him (just wait I probably just jinxed myself). Regardless, I highly recommend Dr. Zentgraf as your dentist if you live on the south side. The best part is that there is hardly ever any wait! You get there on time sign in and within a few minutes they call you to the back... always quick visits!
