So grateful to have stop by the East Bay Nursery down the street who bought a loaf and let me try some! I was also recommend the strawberry eclair which was amazing! This location is on a corner San Pablo ave and Addison st. Parking is street parking. We went around noon but it seems like the earlier the better to make sure you get the pastries you want. Once they run out, that's it for the day. Ambiance: chill, place to come for a cup of coffee or to study or even work. It's quite & lots of seating area. read more

Great place to study and get some work done! They have a beautiful assortment of pastries and breads. The staff is very helpful. I am on a limited diet, and didn't think I could eat anything, but one of the employees, Mars, went out of his way to help me find something that worked for me. Thank you Mars! Ugh, I wanted to love this place so bad but unfortunately the service ruined it for my family and I. Can't deny that they do have the best avocado toast I've ever had, though! However, the two dudes that were working the day we went in seemed to be having a bad day (with just us). I nicely asked for utensils when I got my food and The response I got was a point to the back wall where they were. The curly hair dude looked bothered that I didnt know. Sorry, it was my first time! Well, this place was just a little baker's dream! A friend and I came to the area for breakfast, only to find our chosen destination randomly closed - Lavender was across the street and I am so glad we were able to stumble in! We split the traditional avocado toast, the peach chausson, a chocolate crossiant, and a cranberry oatmeal cookie - and there was not a singular meh bite. avocado toast // the avocado was perfectly ripe and the bread was divine. whatever seasoning was on it was so fragrant. peach chausson // the peach and pistachio combo - YUM! this was flaky, sweet and so unique. chocolate croissant // flavor-wise, this was a standard chocolate croissant, but pastry-wise? this was flaky, and buttery, and basically melted in your mouth! cranberry oatmeal cookie // the oatmeal base was so chewy and flavorful. I am usually not a fan of dried cranberries, raisins, or anything similar - but this was a delicious way to end our meal. We also both tried different drinks and enjoyed them; the iced coffee with the bourbon maple (?) foam wasn't too sweet and my friend seemed to enjoy their floral hot tea. Was excited to see that Lavender Bakery took over States Coffee so I was curious to see what they ended up doing with this place. The interior is the same as it was when it was States coffee. I hope they redecorate because the interior just doesn't give off the vibe for the name "lavender bakery". I was in the Berkeley area and decided to try Lavender Bread and Cafe' after checking Yelp for nearby bakeries. I ordered a decaf lavender latte. It was bland and had very little notes of lavender. I also ordered the chocolate mousse and a chocolate croissant for my boys to share for dessert. The desserts looked beautiful, but the taste was just okay. The café had a chill, industrial vibe, though the person taking my order seemed bored. Not sure if I would return, but I'm glad I had the experience of checking out a bakery in Berkeley. Some of the items are a little expensive. Their toasts are a good size. Last time I tried the Pecan Butter Toast (3.5/5). I was expecting it to be a little sweet, but it was fairly bland. But then I realized that the laundromat was across the street from some really cute little cafés, so I decided to make lemonade from lemons and check one of them out. lavender is a beautiful and minimalist café, with delicious smelling bread and pastries galore. I picked the dungeon frog drink, an earl grey with honey and rose flavors, and an almond croissant, both of which were excellent. The spot used to be amazing and one of my favorites and then lavender bakery, took it over. so the quality of the goods have progressively gone down. I miss the delicious bread this place made previously. I do think lavender bakery's original location makes decent cakes however I find the ones at this location to be lower in quality. I also think the quality of the espresso beverages have gone down and might find myself not enjoying my drink drinks here anymore as they as if the espresso shots are not pulled correctly. The location is stunning, but the staff here seem overworked and disgruntled. I don't get the feel win ng Managment treats staff well. As it is such a lovely space I was hoping the quality would remain the same as they transition to new owners but sadly it's not the case and I won't be coming back here anymore. read more
