As a therapist I found her to be dishonest and unprofessional. In our first session, I let Ms. McDonough know what I was looking for in a therapist and my goals in therapy. Ms. McDonough readily agreed and assured me that she was capable of being the right therapist for me. She enthusiastically expressed that she was inspired by my goals. However, a few sessions later, I expressed to her my concern. She immediately took it personally, becoming flustered and raised her voice saying, " You are asking too much of me and I have already done more than required." She even went on to say, that she could never be perfect and she no longer thought she would be a good fit for me. I was completely caught of guard, as she completely contradicted herself from our initial session. Not once had I mentioned that she needed to be perfect. Since we are only human this is an unrealistic expectation. I had thought since we had met a few times I could express to her my feelings and concerns without my therapist dumping her own personal issues on me. Needless to say, Ms. McDonough's reaction was unwarranted and unprofessional. Once she calmed down, she eventually apologized and asked if I would like to continue working with her. I politely decline as I no longer felt comfortable speaking with her and could only imagine the hesitation I would have with trying to express my personal feeling with her again. read more
