Wow! I was Refered to "Dr Weaver" personally by Johnson Dental next door. When he came into my…read moreappointment to be evaluated for oral surgery, he told me that my dentist was the wrong person to diagnose the problem with dental extrusions going up into both of my sinus cavities. After cutting down my dentist, who was the one doctor who DID read my CT scan and identified the problem in the first place, he continued to talk about why he wouldn't do anything about it. I recorded a video of his "findings" and showed it to my referring dentist. She was stunned by his arrogance, and couldn't believe he would undercut her like that when the diagnosis of extrusion in my sinuses were so clear on the CT scan she had just done... and that I brought in with me. Weaver sent me to a ENT doc, who said Dr Weaver didn't have any idea what he was talking about at all. I was going to ignore this and let my dental insurance deal with him and cover this. Months later I got a bill from some doctor collective billing company in Michigan saying I owed another $120 for a 20min consultation where this guy spent me of his time telling me how bad my other doctors was. I just couldn't pay it in good conscience. Justin Weaver is a good looking guy, and I'm sure he knows and uses it to his advantage. Unfortunately he's gotten away with bluster, cutting other good doctors down, and passing off the responsibility for the work he is supposed to be an expert in, by saying they are wrong and he is right. His opinion meant absolutely zero in my case, and I can't believe my dental insurance company paid him a dime for his bill!

I saw Dr Weaver for an extraction but my comments apply to the SLO office as well…read more First, Dr Weaver is very patiently communicative, answering all questions with no hint of impatience. But he doesn't just rely on questions, he explains what he plans. It is a back and forth process. 5 stars for him. The work proceeded cleanly and with minimal tugging. Post surgical swelling and pain were handled with ibuprofen. I made sure to ice a number of times to bedtime. 5 stars for the procedure and minimal after effects. The office is clean, the staff efficient but with a relaxed vibe. You can tell the partners in the practice manage well. 5 stars for that!

I've been through a complicated journey with facial trauma from a serious car accident years ago,…read morewhere my face hit a metal dashboard. Because of that injury, I needed orthodontic treatment as part of preparation for corrective jaw surgery -- it wasn't cosmetic, it was medically necessary. When I first visited this office in San Luis Obispo, the doctor suggested single jaw surgery instead of double jaw surgery, which would have cut my costs in half. While I appreciated the effort to save money, this recommendation didn't align with my surgeon's plan for proper correction. The office itself raised concerns. Their website and messaging mirrored my original surgeon's office, causing confusion. Months into treatment, after consulting with my surgeon and other specialists to confirm the surgical plan, I received a call demanding $800 for an evaluation fee. Much of this evaluation relied on imaging that was never conducted, and when I questioned it, the response was aggressive and dismissive. Orthodontic care for trauma-related jaw surgery requires close coordination with your surgeon. In this office, that coordination felt secondary to billing and aggressive collection tactics. While the doctor may have been well-intentioned, the office's practices left me frustrated and concerned. If you are dealing with medically necessary orthodontic treatment, especially after facial trauma, I strongly urge caution: Confirm your orthodontic plan aligns with your surgeon's recommendations Get a full itemized breakdown of fees and services Know your rights to transfer or modify care if treatment plans change I'm now back under the care of my trusted surgeon and hope to continue treatment safely. I share this review to warn patients to verify that the office truly supports medically necessary care before committing.

I originally saw his father, and Dr. Ian has inherited all the skills and patience that his father had. I also go in regularly for dental hygiene with Maria, and am just as happy with her work to keep my teeth looking and feeling healthy! Maria works quickly and I always walk away feeling like I have a new set of teeth. The office is in a beautifully restored Craftsman style house near Highway 101 and also close to Poly. It is clean, calm and relaxing. The front office staff is also attentive and patient. They can navigate the intricacies of billing and scheduling with cheer and ease. Dr. Ian also works on Saturdays, and they can fit you in should you have a dental emergency. They can also recommend specialists in the area if you need further work like dental surgery. The only downside for me is that they are out of my dental insurance provider, but I still get partial reimbursement. I would never go anywhere else because the quality of the work here is worth paying a bit extra for!

I had been going to this dental place for about 4 years and had extensive work done that amounted…read moreto almost 10k in that time period. At first, I overlooked a lot of things that my gut was telling me. One instance, I inquired about something different from what I came in for, the dentist did work on it right away to my surprise, and of course deducted the cost from my prepaid funds. There were billing errors that happened more than once, being overcharged, even when they say you get a discount. Getting my refund took time because of "corporate" office approval wait. Then I get charged for "periodontal" work $184 when I received basic cleaning - I know full well the difference. I specifically told them that I only want cleaning. With my last appointment I called first to make sure, again she said $184, and I said I want cleaning only then qouted $131. Ok so I go in for basic cleaning, upon being seated, the hygienist said that I'm due for an Xray. I told her I'd rather not at this time as I had extensive work done in their office already. She said my last xray was a year ago. I said it's not necessary, then she calls in the new dentist whom I never met before, and I felt ganged up on both convincing me. I said I'm willing to do it next time or in a year. I asked if they will do cleaning without Xray for now, again they insisted with no regard to what I wanted. So I stood up and quickly walked away. The way they made me feel was awful. This was the final straw for me. I definitely relate to what others are saying about Broad St Smiles. It's a corporate dentistry in which the main focus is to generate revenue as much as possible rather than genuine patient care. Yes, BUYER BEWARE!

My wife and I have been going to this dentist for about three years, and recently we began to get a…read morebad vibe. Firstly, when he enters the examination room, he fails to greet me or ask how I am doing; instead, he goes directly to examining my teeth. Secondly, he was pushing hard for me to purchase a $450 mouth guard, even though I have no indications that I am grinding my teeth. Thirdly, he told my wife that she needed a root canal; however, a follow-up examination by an endodontist indicated that a root canal was unnecessary, and that only a bite adjustment was needed to eliminate her issues. Finally, he insists that I have X-rays every two years, despite the fact that I am not experiencing any issues. My primary care physician does not require a full-body X-ray every two years. In conclusion, I don't trust this dentist and suspect his treatment plans are driven more by a desire to generate revenue than by patients' actual needs. Caveat emptor.
