I've seen Dr. Hillary Hawkins for over three years now. My routine cleanings and check ups are always very pleasant. They have an easy check in process and it's never a long wait. When I'm with the technician and Dr. Hawkins I never feel rushed or that they are just turning over patients. They are very thorough, intentional, and thoughtful throughout the whole process. Dr. Hawkins recently provided a service to fill my tooth. She was kind and had patience the entire procedure, ensuring I was informed every step of the way. First time here and all went smooth. I did have to email myself the link for the first paperwork as there was no way I wanted to do that online. But that worked so nothing to do but check in. They had a parking lot so that was good. I met with the X-ray tech for full X-rays and she did a great job of making it as comfortable as possible but also quick once she got it set. I liked that they also took regular pictures so when the dentist met with me she could show me real pictures to explain the spots she was watching. I have several small hairline fractures but nothing to take action on now. She also said my mouth guard is fine for now. My last dentist was pushing to replace $$$. They do have you move to another chair for cleaning and even another side of the building. I liked her too and a day later feel she got it all smoothed out. She was nice and accommodating as I don't do well with mint floss or polish tooth paste so she found unflavored. I would recommend this office. read more

They had a last minute cancelation and were able to get me in quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful and was able to get my insurance sorted out. I was actually a very long-time patient. Maybe 20 years or more. Overall, I had no beef with the practice, until...I had a cracked tooth (during Covid, so I had to wait 10 days with a sore tooth to even get it dealt with. And that's not even my complaint, because that was just the insanity of its day). I finally got a root canal and crown. 2 years later I started to experience some sensitivity and found out that the crown had failed. Apparently it had failed in the months since my last visit, and enough decay had set in that there was way less tooth to which attach to reattach the crown. The dentist then said "start saving your money." And I'm like, "why?" I am then informed that the most viable long-term solution is an implant at 7-9 THOUSAND dollars, which insurance was not likely to cover. WTF?! This may be true, but the way it was presented was so crass, I was just gobsmacked. I was told the current crown would likely fail again within a year, especially if I was eating "crunchy crunchy almonds." Basically setting me up for my own failure. I spent good out-of-pocket money to get the crown in the first place! Really, this is just how it is? I'm just screwed? Screwed a lot, in fact. 7-9 thousand dollars is untenable. I went back for my next cleaning and follow up, and they managed to forget my actual exam after the cleaning (which they have never done before). Seems an important time for an exam, after a failed crown. Maybe they have just gone downhill. Too bad. They were reliable for so long. Absolutely insulting. read more

During the pandemic, I was totally skeeved about having my mouth hanging open in any space that wasn't my house. They called during that time to schedule routine appts and were totally understanding when I said I wasn't coming in. I am now fully vaccinated and went for my first cleaning in 18 months. They were completely empathetic and understanding of my tartar build up situation and my hygienist (Thiem?) checked in with me constantly to make sure I was ok. Two hours later and my teeth are reset after being ignored during the unvaccinated portion of this pandemic. WHEW. Love them!!!!! read more

I think I'm an anomaly here, but I've had nothing but frustrating and occasionally unprofessional experiences with Laurelhurst since I joined as a patient a few months ago, including: * A rapid fire first cleaning where the dentist brusquely informed me that I had 5 cavities (!) and quickly ushered me into scheduling fillings. This felt like a cash grab, if we're being honest, and no one walked me through alternative treatment options * A first filling appointment where a (different) dentist said they missed documenting a 6th cavity during cleaning that needed to be added to the list (don't they kinda have one priority during these cleanings - to document cavities?) * A second filling appointment in which, after waiting 30 min past the appointment time, I was asked if I could reschedule. I said no and instead they squeezed me in with a dentist who rushed the job so fast I was numb for 2 days and sore for a week. * A nightguard fitting experience in which the tech was clearly inexperienced, and said the fit was "good enough" even though I kept flagging that my bite felt different. Now my bite has been altered and I have to go back to have it redone. * Many, many times when I called in to make, move, or inquire about an appointment, and ended up "on hold" with the front desk for 10+ minutes at a time. The staff are all friendly and mean well but I cannot transition out of here fast enough. read more
