Twenty years ago, I ordered some custom embossed William Arthur stationery from a store on Brookside and was hoping to give my son a matching set. That store is no longer in business and William Arthur has since been purchased by Crane. To further complicate the issue, the style I wanted to duplicate wasn't offered anymore due to cutbacks caused by COVID. However, with determination from the helpful staff at The Inviting Place, negotiations were made with Crane and I was able to custom order a set of stationery made with unique tools created just for my order, thereby helping me achieve my goal of giving my son matching stationery that he can proudly keep unused in a box for the next 30 years because his generation doesn't know how to write and mail letters. It was my first year going and I was impressed with everything I saw. Admission is $5, which lets you in the whole weekend (Thanks Yelp for the free tickets!!). The first 50 people on Friday got a swag bag that was supposedly filled with amazing things. I wouldn't know since I didn't get one - not that I'm bitter or anything (F.Y.I. Getting there RIGHT when it opens = too late for the freebies. The lobby was PACKED before the doors were even open). Saturday afternoon, they have free crafting sessions (specific crafts to be made/schedule is on their website). Saturday night, they have a fashion show. The only thing I really, really hated was how packed it was. A show like this REALLY needs a bigger space. Often, I couldn't even look at a vendor's booth because there were SO many people/booths were TINY. Luckily, crowds started to thin out an hour into the event. Another downside is parking downtown....hopefully you're lucky enough to find a street spot. If not, you can take a chance like me and park in a random parking lot...and hope your car doesn't get towed.

They frequently have sales with drastic price cuts. Their canvases were recently 70% off! You can get a credit card with an immediate 20% discount and it has built in discounts on everyday items. They have an app with a great reward system (you can have rewards without the app, but the app really simplifies everything.) The sales staff is always friendly and helpful. Their framing department is second to none. Framing is much more expensive than Hobby Lobby, but you truly get what you pay for. Most of my Hobby Lobby frames have looked cheap and one even fell apart. Michael's did an incredible job on helping me make decisions and then framing my deceased dad's military shadow box. I highly recommend Michael's.
