I've heard people say that they would rather have a root canal than do [______][1]. But what if you…read morehad to get a root canal? What would you rather be doing than getting a root canal? Just a thought. Anyway, Renaissance Dental Studio was recommended to me by my mother of all people. I haven't been to the dentist in... 5 years? It's not because I have some irrational fear of dentists or something, it was more because of... Well, let's just say stuff happens, and I wasn't able to for a while. As far as insurance is concerned, I don't know all the insurance types that are accepted but from personal experience, I can tell you that Guardian is accepted. So considering it had been half a decade, I was nervous about the imminent pain. Actually, I was more nervous about what kind of damage I had done to my teeth since my last visit (constantly eating ice, all those sugary snacks, not flossing as often as I should, etc.) that would now require additional work on their part, and maybe additional money on my part. But all the worry was for naught. The hygienist, while not being a talkative person, was a lovely lady (in personality and facial proportions), and she was incredibly gentle despite the fact that her job basically involved gouging/stabbing/clawing at my teeth with her sharp, pointy, pain sticks. I didn't mind that she wasn't much of a talker, because she had the TV on and I watched Ellen, and that kept me distracted and entertained. The dentist, Dr. Prince, was an amiable man, and he thanked me for making his job easier because my teeth were perfect (whatwhat?!). And then he complimented me further by asking me if I ever had orthodontics. You get bonus points, Dr. Prince. So the fear of my visit turning into the dental equivalence of Jigsaw mutilating his victims[2] was relieved, and the whole experience was pleasant enough that I almost didn't mind that Dr. Prince had his fingers all inside my mouth without even taking me out on a couple of dates first. Seriously though, they're all lovely people. The people at the front desk seemed happy to be there, and even happier to interact with me. Such pretty smiles. Such nice teeth. Just like mine. [1]Note: Insert unpleasant activity. [2]Note: See 'Saw' movie franchise.

Dr. Frye at Lakeside Oral Surgery extracted all 4 of my wisdom teeth. It was a very good…read moreexperience. I went in several months in advance for a consult and she prepped me for what to expect. On surgery day I was quickly escorted into the operating room and given nitrous oxide to calm my very anxious nerves. (Hey, you don't wait until your 29 to get your wisdom teeth out unless you have a major avoidance issue). Then the nurse started my IV, Dr. Frye asked me some questions, and I quickly drifted off to sleep. I woke up four times less wiser but well cared for by my hubby. Dr. Frye met with him to give him an update and make sure he understood my aftercare instructions. I was sent home with lots of meds and very detailed instructions. Unfortunately I had a very rough recovery. My teeth were not the easiest to remove and I had a very swollen and sore jaw. As a result I had a terrible time eating which makes for an upset stomach when taking pain meds and antibiotics. Lakeside was never more than a phone call away though and always gave me advice and empathy. 10 days after surgery I developed an infection. I woke up on the Friday morning of a predicted Snowpocalypse and knew I had to be seen ASAP. I called the office and was greeted by the answering service who told me the office was closed due to weather until Monday. I told them it was an emergency and they said they would have the on-call doctor, Dr. Cowden, call me. He called within a few minutes and met me at the office within the hour. I was so grateful. He provided me with the very necessary treatment and sent me home with meds. Within 48 hours I was much better, thank goodness. My complications didn't stop there, but throughout my entire recovery Dr. Frye was available and saw me frequently- almost on a weekly basis. We tried various treatments and eventually decided time was what I needed the most. I'm glad she trusted her instincts because she was right! Never once though did she allow me to panic or suffer, she always reassured me and comforted me. She is exactly what I would hope for in a doctor and has fine tuned her craft. I can't recommend her and Dr. Cowden enough.

The ladies there are fabulous. Very caring and seemed to care about me and my teeth too. The ladies in the office are fabulous always made me feel welcome and left with a smile on my face. Top notch in my book. I went from using a lot of nitrous because of my anxiety to using a hint of it before they began work on my teeth. (Not saying mine are nasty but I was always embarassed about being seen at such an establishment of professionalism.

You will be greeted so kindly and treated with genuine compassion. I have pretty severe anxiety that I didn't think was possible to get past but somehow THIS PLACE did it. I needed so much work done and I was terrified, I had gone to several dentist consultations and was scared to death to go but after meeting this staff I knew I could do it. It was a lot and I did have a healing process however the experience was truly the absolute best I could have hoped for and more. I've never felt so cared for by strangers and Dr. Lanman gave me a really pretty smile that I am so stinking proud of! Also there are 0 surprises here. First, before leaving a review, I read the reviews of others, and I think to take the time to leave…read morea review should reflect an actual experience or end result. I see reviews which reflect neither here, so here is mine: 1) on time and 100% prepared for my visit and the immediate need to address my swollen face from an apparent crown gone rotten (not sure why but this happens). 2) I own my own business and expect my employees to represent myself, my business and my craft. A) Dr. Joe's Staff is very well trained....by their university. They are MENTORED to know the craft by Dr. Joe. I would probably be safe to say his staff may have learned something related to my emergency visit. 3) Respect. Nothing less than respect was given to me not only as a customer, but as a friend and the world's worst 1,000% phobo-freak of my teeth. Now, my review. I give Dr. Isaacson and his office 5 stars for 5 specific reasons. 1) They immediately addressed my clinical issues with two sets of eyes, one of which was his hygienist. I impressed that a business owner had invested a tremendous amount of their time in making sure their staff knew the business as well as himself and could help expedite my treatment (obviously tenure makes some difference). 2) The environment is an environment, to those of you who bad mouthed it, that brought a great amount of peace to someone like me who is absolutely petrified of getting anything done in their mouth. So, with that being said, the office keeps privacy, the noise of drills next door and the ambiance to a perfect level considering for me it is a nightmare. 3) Finances. For those who want to complain about "being a paycheck", let me fill you in on some things as a small business owner. I was trying to figure out how today Dr. Isaacson made a profit off of my procedures and it occurred to me he probably did not make a profit but made and impression which will generate way more than my visit alone. See, I have and extensive background in medical and medical billing and I can honestly say that today may have been a break even day for Dr. Isaacson. However, my continued business with him should warrant his return. 4) Staff. Not once was I not greeted with a how are you, how are you doing, or even the "Mr. X did you pee in your pants?". Seriously in the middle of two significant events for me and 1 major one I had to go to the bio. I did not realize that I have sprayed water all over my shorts while doing so so this I found to be very respectful and funny. 5) Business is defined by 1 thing in my book. That one single Item is TRUST. It is not given, it is really not earned in my opinion when it comes to my mouth. I am single handedly petrified of the dentist. I have had now two great ones. Dr. Isaacson earned my respect over the past week as a clinician. Not as a friend, a neighbor or a person or a colleague from a University. His clinical background, his respect for his staff and the business was way above what you will normally experience.
