Today it was 33.5 degrees in the hallway outside my apartment even though it was only 18 degrees outdoors. The heat is a problem because there is no way to cool down the individual apartments. The windows have wedges installed so that they cannot be opened more than 3 or 4 inches. Not only can you not get a breeze but neither can you install a window air conditioner. Unless you can sleep in oven-like conditions, you won't get a good night's sleep here all summer. I leave the patio door open until 2 or 3 a.m. and just put up with the mosquitoes and flies that come in because I can't stand the heat. A building this brand new MUST have air conditioning in the hallways. I wish they'd use it. The apartments are very tiny but a good size if you live alone. Sinks are tiny, closets are small, and the kitchen area is minuscule. The second bedroom in a two-bedroom apartment is not big enough for anyone to live in. I have a desk, chair, and bookcase in there and it's cramped. The living room will fit a couch and TV but not much else. For a single person, it's a great size but I can't imagine trying to share this tiny space with another person, never mind children! On the plus side, there are very nice touches in the interior such as wood laminate floors, granite sinks, nice lighting fixtures, and interesting ceiling molding. The apartments look contemporary and fresh. The kitchen has lots of cupboards and even a small pantry. I also notice that there is very little noise from other apartments. I would never even guess there was someone living above me.
