Patacon sandwich with shredded beef - highly recommend!
    Jim C.

Outstanding food - Can't recommend highly enough!! Had the Patacon with shredded beef (a sandwich with massive tostones as the bun) which was amazing, and an order of the best sweet plantains I have ever had! They were caramelized to perfection!

The cheese and potatoes empanadas are DELICIOUS! Could easily eat 5 of them instead of a regular meal. The first time we ordered was thru Uber eats and had the sampler and some arepas but lots of those things are fried so they didn't travel well. The second time around I had the Pabellon and it was good. The place was cleans and the service was good but IMO Prices are too high for what it is .

    Beef Jibarito

I was craving some Arepas last week and was fortunate enough for this place to be only a slight detour on my way home...Ironically I ended up going with a Beef Jibarito instead because I hadn't had plantains in FOREVER and I love the texture and flavor of properly crisped green plantains. The sandwich ended up being way bigger than I expected, but was amazing. I really enjoyed the textural contrast between the Plantain "Bun" and the softness of the spiced ground beef, lettuce, and tomatoes. It came with two different sauces (Cilantro Crema and a Red Salsa) and both paired wonderfully. This places is no frills but the food delivers. Note that the menu posted here has outdated pricing. I believe I paid roughly $3 more. I'd definitely stop by again if I lived closer.

Was recently working at Pearland and wanted some latin food. Searched on Yelp and found this hidden gem 5 minutes from where I was working at. It's close to a gas station and if you are not looking for it you can miss it. They have front store parking and parking is a litte limited on space but decided to go in and was greated by a friendly cashier that took my order at counter. About 15 minutes later my food was brought to the table and I taught food would be small bites but had the arepa and got full so I took the Jibarito to go. I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area looking for lunch.

    Tinga tacos with pork jabarito

I've been here a few times. Although it is right next to a gas station off of a small road in Pearland don't let that deter you from checking it out. The service is always friendly and quick. They have a variety of latin american foods to choose from, probably the most I've seen from a "fast-casual" restaurant. I got the tinga tacos, chicken that has also been cooked with chorizo. They were slightly spicy and if you get the spicy salsa be prepared for the kick of heat! I also got a jabarito. It's a sandwich with fried plantains for for buns. One of the best concepts for buns I've had. I had the prom jabarito. The pork was like a latino pulled pork, super moist and mildly flavored. The veggies inside were onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. The food was served within 5 mins of ordering. Also, if you check in you can get a free jabarito, empanada, or pupusa!

Fantastic Latin food in the Pearland area. If you're looking for Latin cuisine, this place is for you. The tostones were perfectly fried and salted. The yucca fries were the best I've had, crunchy in all the right places. We thoroughly enjoyed our arepas. I must say I haven't had arepas this good since visiting a Venezuelan arepa place in Cartagena Colombia. They were able to accommodate our vegan diets with grilled veggies and avocado. I would have loved an option to add grilled mushrooms in addition to the onions and bell peppers. The sauces were delicious, unfortunately no guasacaca but that did not disappoint. Wash it all down with fresh squeezed juice, we had strawberry. We will be back, happy to find an amazing Latin cuisine in Pearland Texas of all places.

Latino Bites Express in Pearland is a great stop for cheap, delicious South American food. Tacos, tostones, empanadas, arepas and yucca fries OH MY! Latino Bites Express is unassuming from the outside in a gas station strip mall. But inside you'll find delicious South American delights for a great price. First, you choose from tacos, arepas, pupusas, empanadas, quesadilla or jibaritos. Then you choose your meat between chicken, beef, pork, chorizo, tinga, or grilled vegetables. The atmosphere is bright and cheery. You feel like you're actually in South America with the colors and music. The waitress is helpful with the menu and the experience overall was great.

    Queen Arepas

Great place to satisfy your venezuelan food craving! I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. Finally was in the area and decided to order takeout. Finding venezuelan food and arepas in Houston has been tough. I came from Miami where we have a giant venezuelan community. The arepa tasted/was made slightly different than what I'm used to but it did satisfy my craving. I had the Latino sampler and also ordered the queen arepa. Overall food and service were good! Would def try again for another craving/

I finally made the drive down 1488, but was a bit saddened by the events. Attempt #1: I drove over, put in my order and waited. A few minutes later, my buzzer went off and I was told that the gas for their stove top ran out and that they would have to refund me. It's unfortunate and it happens, but it was definitely not ideal since I drove 15-20 minutes just for this. Attempt #2: I sat in awful traffic on my way here that made my commute about 30 minutes. And then I waited another 20+ for my food after ordering, which I definitely did not expect. When I got home, I was pretty unimpressed with my pepito. And my wife felt the same about her California hot dog. I know this is about as small a business as they come and I hate to be too harsh, so I'll just leave my rating at 3-stars, though it's a bit of a round-up.

We had yuca fries, empanafas, the cheese (both fried & cold). All were good. The best thing for me was the sandwich they make with flattened, fried plantains that serve as the bread. The server was very friendly and explained the menu to us. I love the fact that there is a QR code at the table that pulls up a menu with all the photos. It's great for someone who doesn't know what the items look like. You can also pay by scanning the QR code. The downside is that they charge you extra hidden costs like tap water and a whole lot of many other things. I would have bright my own purified bottled water from Costco that cost a a fraction of what they charged. The prices didn't not align with what was reflected on the menu from scanning the QR code and they were not upfront about it until we got the bill. The menu states that one of the orders came with brown rice so that's what we ordered, but they tagged in extra $2.50 for that on our tab. With the patacon, there was lack of transparency that you would be charged extra for each additional ingredients which was not started on the menu and they don't tell you until the very end when it shows up on the bill. Price and transparency 1/5. Pan De Jamon was Sweet and savory with reasons, ham, olives. They're homemade and fresh. 5/5 Patacon - you can add a variety of means but they charge you extra for each one. The plantain part was good, but I felt mixed about it because certain ingredients were hot, lukewarm and some cold. Lack of consistency. 3/5 We also ordered the pabellon plate, It came with plantains (the best part about it), black beans, brown rice according to the menu through the QR code. The meat was tender but not much flavor. 3/5 Love trying out local hole in the walls and finding hidden gems, but this one didn't meet expectations.

Their unique position as one of the only Venezuelan spots in the loop becomes even more niche when one realizes that part of the menu is also Mediterranean / Middle Eastern (#1). If that's not Houston in a nutshell, I don't know what is. The place sports a casual vibe with a clean and bright interior. It's been practically empty with every visit, but I suspect the takeout game is strong here. There is limited parking in the back of the restaurant and the narrow alleyway entrance is somewhat easy to miss. Food wise, I am not disappointed. Their cheese cachapa is the stuff of dreams and includes a number of stuffings from ham to shredded chicken / beef. My vote is for their pabellón, which is a nice combination of shredded beef, black beans, and sweet plantains. For cheese lovers, the double cheese is perfectly indulgent with the sweetness of the cornmeal. The main draw for me was the arepas, which is something I missed having had so much of it back in NYC. La Pelua (shredded beef, mixed shredded cheese) is one of my go-tos, but my all-time favorite is the reina pepiada, a shredded chicken mixed with avocado topped with sprinkled salty white cheese. It's a staple in the Venezuelan arepa game and while their version is very solid, I'm just extremely thankful that it's available. Their breakfast platters are a big draw, which mainly consist of scrambled egg combos paired with arepas and various proteins. I think their yuca buñelos, tequeños, patacones, and especially their mandocas are incredibly underrated. The latter is practically dessert since it's mashed plantains with the cachapa stuffed with sugar and cheese. While they're not known for their empanadas, I do think their cazon (#2) is unique and their potato and cheese is always hearty. The shredded beef is a nice alternative to their arepas or arepitas (side) and make for an excellent snack on the go. Fans of Venezuelan cuisine who find themselves in the inner loop owe them a visit and I highly recommend calling ahead of time to ensure they have items available and to get a jump on the wait time for takeout. They are a slept on gem in the neighborhood and one that I hope sticks around for a very long time. _____________ (#1) The owners are Venezuelan and Syrian. The sweetest couple. (#2) Dogfish?
