I've been to the one in Lee Rd & now the one in Sanford. I can honestly say the food is consistent & just as good as the one on Lee Rd. Still a damn good representation of a Philly cheesesteak. My only pause here is that the bread seems to be a little weaker - the hoagie roll seemed to crumble under my normal order. I still stand by this - Too many businesses clutter their cheesesteaks with too much extra - it's a very simple equation for an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak. Make sure the meat is made of a good cut, sliced thin. Get a good hoagie roll with some wiz (cheese whiz - do not knock it till you've tried it) & grilled onions. Give me some hot peppers on the side. Done. Only other option is pizza sauce - in which get some good provolone. Don't put green peppers or salad or whatever - keep it simple! This is not a "sub" folks it's a cheesesteak. There is a huge difference. My husband could not indulge in a cheese steak today so he got the steak salad. That was a complete treat for him, it was pretty much the meat on a cheesesteak but slapped on a salad - a healthier substitute. What was remarkably unhealthy (but oh so delicious) was the bag of homemade croutons that comes with it - I was not participating but indulging today - my goodness those croutons were amazing). As always, the guys that work in the kitchen are Philly tried & true. They are to the point & love the food - don't expect the Southern sweetness here, they are Philadelphia so there's no syrup here. I've passed this place for years, always saying "Someday I'll stop." I wish I hadn't waited so long. Today I tried an 8 inch cheesesteak and a side of zucchini fries, which came with ranch dressing for dipping. Both were hot and delicious. The flavor of the beef, in particular, combined with just enough cheese and onions, mean I won't be driving by again without stopping. My last few times ordering from laspadas I've been disappointed. And I mean both locations Orange city and Sanford. They never get my order correct. I don't understand how sweet peppers got into my chicken chew steak with friend onions and ketchup yet here we are....again. I'm over them! At Orange city I'm told "if you bring it back ma'am we'll remake it." Sir/madam now that I'm home that seems irrelevant. How bout getting it correct the first time?! Tried this place by chance with some time to kill. Had the cheesesteak because it's the hardest thing to find in Florida.... and since I am SPOILED by NJ and PA steaks, it's even tougher! My 8" pepper mushroom and onion cheesesteak did not disappoint. The mushrooms were odd probably because they were canned... and that changes everything. But it was moist and beautifully flavored with the right amount of salt!!! What REALLY impressed me was the "Sandwich Maker!" As I stood there for 15 minutes waiting for my cheesesteak, I observed SM creating each and every sandwich the way I would.... with careful detail. After seeing about five of these made, I felt bad for ordering a cheesesteak, which still seemed FAR away from my palate. That man did not understand the importance speed plays in line cooking. Each and every sandwich had the meat sliced right before it was made... which is pretty much unheard of in Florida. Not only that, there was plenty of meat as well as vegetables on the soft yet not gooey bread, and he delicately folded the meat in with a knife, before sprinkling a generous amount of tomatoes and lettuce on top. I was sold and cannot wait to go back and try ALL of his sandwiches. As someone who cooks from scratch and has had the privilege of eating REAL Italian deli subs... I was very impressed!!! PHILLY CHEESESTEAK LOVERS LISTEN UP!!! The crew here @ LaSpada's really knows what they are doing! THE SCENE I'm no stranger to this sandwich. Growing up in Chicago afforded me our own Windy City version of this Philadelphia delight and I've been hooked on chopped/grilled meat blended with onions and cheese ever since! I find very few smells in life as intoxicating as this mix of ingredients. Walking in the door of LaSpada and catching a whiff of the scents wafting from the kitchen was almost orgasmic! Of course the place is laced with Philly memorabilia and the staff, particularly the cook, was your wildly flavorful Northern shop owner type... fully confident in his product which showed in his conversation. THE FOOD I was so excited by the feel of home this place delivered through my eyes, nose and ears that I ordered my favorite hoagy sandwich to go, an Italian. Ham, Genoa Salami, Pepper Ham, Pepperoni, Provolone and Italian Cappicola on an Italian roll with sweet and spicy peppers is what heaven serves @ lunch time! The rest of my family ordered hamburgers, hot dogs and tuna salad. YES, I will admit they are boring eaters, but each was very pleased with their meal and we all fell in love with the sweet onion chips. Trust me, get them! The don't stick to traditional soft drink brands, instead option for what is probably a local Philly brand. Good, but I would have preferred a Coke or Barq's root beer. THE SERVICE/ATMOPHERE Honestly, it was kinda hot inside. The staff had the large dining area fan pointed towards the kitchen, but as we waited for our food a few of us broke out in a sweat. Problem is it was early April, I can't imagine what it would be like to eat here in July. Maybe the owner was holding back in cutting on the air conditioning for another month, maybe. There was an older lady taking orders that seemed a little snarky. Can't really explain it, but it was just the vibe I was getting. I thought to myself "maybe it's just hot and busy", shrugged it off and moved on to my seat. THE VERDICT All in all I really enjoyed my Italian hoagie. However, if I am being totally honest, I expected the meat to be a little better seasoned on the cheesesteak. It was moist, tender, full of meat and had the right proportion of cheese & onions, but could have used a touch more salt & pepper when being cooked. There are certain food items I don't like to doctor with spices, sauces or dressings. I like for them to come straight out of the kitchen and into my mouth already perfectly seasoned. One of the better cheesesteaks I've tried. The only reasons that it's not 5* is the price is a little expensive for what you get. The fries weren't really good either. I threw half of them out they had a strange taste to them. Might need to change the oil they fry them in. This is probably the best cheesesteak we've had in central Florida. The portions are very generous. I shared the 8" cheesesteak meal with fries and a drink with my toddler for less than $10. They have a few options for fries. They have crinkle, curly, and sweet potato fries plus tater tots. They have a lot of other sandwich and burger options. I think everyone comes for the cheesesteaks though. The hoagie roll is right on par. The meat and onions are tasty. It comes with American cheese but I'm sure they have other options. I'm not a fan of American cheese but didn't realize this until I got my meal. Next time, I'll ask for provolone! read more

I was afraid to believe the reputation, because I thought for sure that I would be let down. Tonight we gave them a try for ourselves, and I can safely say ... "Now I'm a BELIEVER!" More like 3 1/2 stars. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak in advance for pickup. I expected to get there with the sandwich ready or near ready to go. I arrived and paid for my order and was told it would be ready in a few minutes. After a while if my standing there someone realizes there is an order waiting. Apparently, they hadn't even started my order so what should have been a 5 minute stop turned into more than 3x that. The sandwich was pretty good, decent size making it a good value. We walked in and I started to order and he said we've already shut down our meat slicer because we close in 5 min. I said I thought you closed at 6pm. He pointed to the clock on the wall and said, yeah, that's in 5 min. The clock by then said 5:50pm. I said well that's in 10 min and turned around and walked out. If you close at 6pm, you shut down your stuff at 6, not 10+min before. If you want out of there at 6pm, say you close at 5:30pm then. This place is a 30 minute drive from my house. I've been searching for a good Philly place since I moved here from El Paso. Found this on a discussion forum online raving about how good it is and it sure did not disappoint. This is a 30 minute drive I will willingly make to eat here, it's that good. Beef was well flavored, fries were fresh and hot and service was good. Only thing I wish I did was get the 12" instead of the 8" but my wife could not finish her 8" so I got the rest of hers after finishing mine. The food was hot, it's cooked to order. The fries were very hot. I have read great things about their other sandwiches but I have a feeling the only thing I will end up getting are the Philly sandwiches because they are so difficult to find. Next time I go I'm going to get the 12". What a great find this place was. Very non-descript and somewhat hidden being next to the auto shop. But I am glad I found it. Very well seasoned, but not salty. They give large meat portions with enough ratio of peppers and onions. The bread is soft and all ingredients taste fresh and served wrapped in a paper bag. Their service is very quick! Family owned and originally from PA. The name LaSpada is family owned originally from PA as their decor shows in their restaurant. The place looks like an authentic shop, non food chain with original paintings on their walls representing their city. This place is the real deal for a Philly Cheesesteak! My Stepdad is from South Philly and lived for years in South Jersey so I've been spoiled. In the 7 yrs we've been here I've never thought to order a cheesesteak because I knew it would be crap.....until now. I was in the mood for something good for my lunch break at work but did not know what i wanted to eat. I definitely wanted to find something really good and not just a regular fast food chain. I searched the area on Yelp to see what i could find that would catch my eye. After going through the list i picked this place based off the reviews i read. All the reviews i read said it was the best place they have been to for a cheesesteak sub. After going in, i noticed how busy it was... which is usually a good sign. I ended up ordering the cheesesteak and added onions and mushrooms to it. The wait time was a bit lengthy but in the end it was all worth it. The cheesesteak sub was perfect. It tasted like it was straight from Philadelphia! It was authentic, full of meat and cheese, and the bread was even really good too.
