At first glance, I loved this place. Midland doesn't have enough breakfast joints and seeing this one open was exciting for me. I was a regular for a while but the novelty kind of faded. The owners are nice, but I've come to realize that they're pretty nickel and dime-y here.. and they don't seem committed to their customers. They don't do combos like most breakfast places, you pay for mostly everything you order. this I never minded too much but I was asking about French toast combos today which is very normal for breakfast joints.. but French toast came alone.. The waitress said I could do a half order of French toast and get eggs on the side. I asked if the half order was half off menu price. She said no, it was only a dollar off the menu price.. the waitress gave me the "I know.." face when I have her the "really?" look. 50 cents extra for English muffins instead of toast. And another waitress accidentally brought out an orange juice i didn't order, I told her she could leave it since she already poured it. Her response was "I'd have to charge you for it" ... and I said no way, take it back. A waste of food unless they plan on holding on to it to give to another customer. The food is decent so this is tolerable, but that's kind of the tip of the iceberg. During one of my visits, our breakfast took forty minutes to arrive, both the server and the owner were pretty unapologetic, they billed the regular price. At another visit they screwed up my order, still billed the regular price. At another visit, my food was cold and undercooked, still billed the regular price. What turned me off the most is that the owner never really fessed up and apologized or gave us discounts when they screwed up, which usually happens at least once during our visits... I tried to like this place but it's started to feel like customers are like a big of dimes for the place's owners. Needless to say, I come much less now and generally would recommend Bully's and Shirline's over this place. read more

Went on Sunday late morning. The place was packed, and the staff was very friendly. The staff seemed to work very well together. Set at the bar and watched the cook work his magic while getting one order after another cooked and passed on to all the hungry customers. One think I noticed was each plate of food went straight from the grill to the customer quickly. Even though it wa packed, our food was steaming hot when it arrived. The staff kept checking in too to make sure everything was okay. Highly recommended!!!! read more

We came here for breakfast but I ended up getting ensnared in the lunch menu. Luckily they serve both throughout the duration of their day (which unfortunately doesn't last long; they close at 3pm), so you can have whichever you want. Our server was very efficient and present, and our food came out suspiciously fast! I got the grilled chicken pita which came with a gross amount of mayo (thankfully in a cup on the side) and a pickle spear. Had I known that, I would have asked them to leave them off the plate. I guess our server saw my face and asked if I wanted ranch instead, which I appreciated. For me, yoghurt and fresh chilies would have been ideal condiments. The chicken was very moist and had that nice grill flavour, the veg was fresh, and the pita and fluffy and chewy. A decent pita, but I prefer this food at night after drinking so I wish they were open late! My boyfriend got a breakfast plate that he was happy with, except for the hash browns. They were really fluffy; maybe they weren't cooked long enough or there wasn't enough oil used. I will have to try their breakfast offerings next time. read more

We were a group of 14 ladies coming in for lunch after visiting Dow Gardens. Although they were full, they told us it would only be a 20 minute wait because they knew most the patrons were there on lunch break and would be leaving soon! They were able to accommodate us, serve us quickly and when it was time to cash out, another server jumped in to help our server because we had separate checks!! I just tried this restaurant for the first time and left unimpressed. I ordered the Country Scramble with added mushrooms, and the mushrooms were unfortunately not fresh, they were from a can. Even though it didn't take long for my food to arrive to the table, the scramble wasn't hot. When I cut into it, it was just barely warm. I expected more from all of the positive reviews on here, but I probably won't be back. Nothing I had this morning was delicious. I've been here twice. Each time the food was good and relatively cheap. I, however, will never step foot in the restaurant ever again. My friend and I were treated so poorly by the manager, I can't imagine ever going back. We had JUST BARELY finished our meal, when the manager can be heard saying (very loudly, 2 feet away from us), "Once these ladies leave, I need you to move a table here," to the bus boy. I, then, heard her repeat it again in quick succession. She said it loudly enough that she knew we heard her. It was just an underhanded way to tell us to leave, we need your table. The final straw was when she had the bus boy start moving the table (to add to a booth, at that) to herd us out. I kid you not. I repeatedly told my friend while it was happening, "Is this really happening? Are we getting herded out? Awkward..." Mind you, I worked as a server at a larger restaurant and know not to sit and chat while people are waiting for a table. We were NOT one of those people. Having worked in customer service, I couldn't ever imagine telling someone to leave because we need your table. You just don't do that; it's bad business! And to do it the underhanded way she did, even worse! I really should have called her out on it, instead we left (like little cattle getting herded out). I really think she thought she could do that because we were two younger females. She would have never disrespected two men like that. (Personal opinion there). read more

Disgusted and disrespected. This is how we felt after dining at Lasko's and finding a wad of revolting pubic like hair in our meal. The worst part is how we were treated by the owner, Lisa. As a Midland native, I wouldn't be doing this town justice by not leaving a review about the horrible experience that we had in this establishment with their owner and manager, Lisa. Like other comments on here have alluded to, the management and ownership here is disgraceful and should be ashamed of the way they treat customers. Shortly after sitting down for our meal, a wad of hair was found just beneath the egg in the skillet breakfast that Lasko's offers. If finding hair is disgusting enough, this was a wad of hair in the very center of the dish. When we notified the waitress, we received nothing more than an short apology, the manager didn't come to our table. At this point, our appetites were ruined and we had enough. Because we had just sat down, we decided to leave and head for Cafe American around the corner. As we stood up to leave and were walking out of the restaurant, Lisa, the owner and manager, physically cut in front of us in the middle of the restaurant and began to question us about our meal. She began to make a very loud scene and was peppering me on questions about our meal in the most condescending tone. When I informed her that we were not willing to pay for our meal because we had just arrived and were forced to deal with this mess, she was enraged and started making us and many of the dining customers feel very uncomfortable. She demanded that I pay for the other items we had ordered, specifically drawing attention to the "drinks" aka one cup of coffee that was on my bill. This isn't how you treat a customer who discovers a wad of hair under their egg yoke. This isn't customer service. This isn't acceptable in any form of business, let alone the service industry. Lisa not only refused to engage me in a mature and civil discussion, she was defiant, rude and couldn't control her own emotions. Midland deserves better than Lasko's. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us from a local young man working at the Midland ford dealership. We asked for a casual place and we were very satisfied with this local diner. We won't hesitate to go back. Our chicken noodle soup was piping hot to the table and tasted like homemade. I had a Turkey Reuben and it was delicious. The best part was that they grill it dry...I mean not one bit of grease on my fingers and no soggy greasy mess! The service was good as well. read more

Went here for breakfast after driving by several times and noticing how busy it appeared, even during weekdays. Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. I had the French Toast (meh...) and my dining companion had one of the skillets (slightly better meh). Could definitely make better versions of both at home, but I guess for the price, portion size, and convenience, Lasko's is A-OK. The service was great though - servers were attentive, my coffee and water were refilled as needed and without request, and the food came out quite quickly despite the restaurant being full. This place has a no-frills diner feel and is probably a good choice for breakfast with your (grand)parents, or with your hungover buds. read more

Never received a ticket/bill My server delivered my food and disappeared. I had to flag down other servers to bring me items, refills, and boxes. I never received a ticket for my bill. Another server admitted when we were paying to leave, she was asked by my server to watch my table while she was "out" and joked that she didn't do a very good job. Met my server on way out the door who was coming back in with whipped cream drinks in a carrier for workers. Wish I received that service from her as a paying customer. read more

The Laskos come from a family of Detroit restauranteurs and decided to bring their expertise to Midland and the Bay region. Their deli sandwiches are generously stacked high with meat. Our office ordered lunch a week or so ago and all felt their food was outstanding. That day I had the coney dog with authentic Detroit style coney sauce- it was excellent. Today I tried the traditional reuben. Reubens are my favorite sandwich and of course, with this sandwich it's all about the corned beef. I've tried them at every restaurant in Midland that offers them and many other places in Michigan. Hands down this was the best I've had. The corned beef was melt in your mouth tender and wasn't overly salted. The restaurant is very clean- sure they haven't been open long- and the wait staff very friendly and approachable. Wanted to try a new place for breakfast. The bacon, while tasty, was precooked and not reheated before it was served. Would have liked some butter on my toast. Their idea of hash browns was sliced potatoes. That being said, the service was great, my eggs were cooked perfectly, and the coffee cup never went dry.
