My second visit here. Both times I attempted to order the sizzling taquitos. The dish is unique and the flavor is actually pretty good - that's where the stars come in. BUT, both times I had the same issues: 1) my veggies are way undercooked. No matter how much I try to emphasize I'd like them done well, soft, actually COOKED, they're still so damn crunchy...almost raw. Thats a huge no go for me. 2) the potato taquitos were cold in the center on both visits. Not even luke warm; ice friggin cold. YUCK. Ill pass. Additionally, on the second visit, our waiter was completely rude. Short with his responses. Uninterested in us even being there. Walked away from us in mid sentence several times. Got part of our order wrong and took forever to bring silverware even after the food came. No way I'll attempt a 3rd go. Long waits at nearby restaurants took us to Las Salsas on our way to Chattanooga from Raleigh. We expected just another Mexican joint. We were definitely surprised by the flavorful sauces in their dishes. I think the Sizzling Spicy Molcajete dishes are the best flavored ones. Also, must mention plentiful amounts of food at extremely reasonable prices. One would wonder why anyone go to Chipotle, Qdoba and the likes. I love this place. Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's my go to Mexican place when I'm in town. Chips and salsa is one of my fave foods and they have an amazing salsa bar! Their fajitas are huge and one can feed at least 2 people. I love their Diet Coke here. I always have good service and the food comes so quick. Morganton's absolute best Mexican restaurant! Las Salsas was recommended to us and after several dining experiences here we have tried several dishes and throughly enjoyed each one. Horrible Ordered cheese sauce 1st one came out good but the second tasted sweet. Our waiter regularly disappeared for 10+ minutes only to come back and only offered to refill our drinks once. We had a group of 10 celebrating my sister's birthday and we had a cake and a few presents. We asked them NOT to do the birthday song and where they shove whip cream in her face. What do they do they do it anyway. My ACP I added onions and mushrooms and they came out 10 minutes past caramelized they tasted like charcoal it was gross.My food had so much grease there was puddles of it. My grandmother asked for no pico and no side salad and they brought it anyway. In the end I wish we had waited the 1.5 hours for LongHorn. I'm so upset this used to be a good resturant but has gone so down hill with the new management. David I think was the last manager and I miss him. They even upped the portion sizes in hopes of getting more people to come in but based on how sick I felt after eating my food I don't think it's working. Subtle flavorings are the order of the house. La Salsa's items tried this evening didn't offer the usual 'in your face' power that I favor in my usual south of the border eateries. Non-the-less, my steak burrito had a fine grilled flavor, well-complimented by the cheese, onion, and pinto bean filling. And I was perfectly happy until I sampled my table-mate's shrimp-based offering. Table-mate's shrimp dinner featured grilled jumbo shrimp, each individually wrapped in its own little dinner-coat of BACON! Yes, BACON!! I shall not forgive her omitting comments regarding this particular item as we scanned the menu from my "first-timer's" perspective, LOL! The bacon imparted a bacony-yummy flavor to each and every full-sized shrimp, and its aroma filled our area of the dining area. Fellow patrons actually approached our table to inquire! (Such is the power of BACON!) The entrée surrounded a flavorful veggie-cheese-rice accessory that would serve as a self-standing menu item in most establishments. I shall return with a follow-up review with an exact entrée name! Table-mate is a weekly diner at La Salsa, and she assures that every item on the menu is worthy of repetition. However, the salsa bar sets La Salsa apart! Not all salsas are created equal, and La Salsa's chilled salsa bar covers the range from safely mild to flaming hot. The health score was a solid 95, the dinning room noise level (full) held at 80db. The two of us ate full entrees with 2 beer and iced teas for less than 22$, not including tip. Las Salsas is a very affordable high quality authentic Mexican spot. They have a great salsa bar serving unique salsas with a wide range of mild to extremely spicy. I almost always go for the las salsas fajitas. It is a huge portion and each ingredient is a solid item on its own, together it is the ultimate fajita plate. My favorite part is the carne asada, an entire skirt steak that seems like it was marinated for days. Then it is charred to perfection, sliced against the grain and it is perfectly tender. The chicken veggies and shrimp are all also very well marinated and fresh. Since they have a salsa bar they bring a been dip to the table with your endless chips. I am a big fan of the been dips, seems to me like a thinner version of refried beans. If you are rolling through Burke county, stop here, you won't regret it! read more

The food here is excellent and authentic. We enjoyed the warm chips and the variety of salsas at the salsa bar. Our server Mario was very friendly and prompt with refills. Hubs enjoyed 2 crunchy shredded beef tacos and a bowl of beans on the side. I ordered a shredded beef burrito and rice and beans included. This plate was huge and brought 1/2 of it home. You can select from many different varieties of fresh salsa at the self serve salsa bar. Try them all, each has a distinct flavor. But don't fill up on chips and salsa... because I promise you, whatever you order, it will be enough to feed two of you! And the quality, freshness, and flavor will blow you away. Las Salsas in Morganton, NC, used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food and service were second to none. However, I understand they have changed management, and it's not been a good change. The wait to be seated in a half full dining room was ridiculous. The service is terrible. And the food, that we used to love, is now awful. After we were finally waited on, my wife and I ordered table side guacamole as an appetizer with our meal. The food came out way before the appetizer. When we finally got the guacamole, after we had almost finished our meal, it was NOT guacamole. First of all, it wasn't made "at the table", as table side guacamole had always been. Then, it was nothing but chopped up avocados in pico de gallo. It was horrible. When I mentioned it to the server that it was not what we ordered, we were informed that "we don't do that anymore." Traveling for work, decided to stop based on reviews on multiple sites. So glad this is where I decided to have dinner. First...they have a SALSA BAR!! Perfect because everyone's idea of good salsa is different. They have about 8 different styles of salsa. Chips and bean dip was delivered to the table (the bean dip was amazing). Tuesday's there is a margarita special...and they did not spare the alcohol. 16oz for $4.99 and it was good and strong. Dinner, I opted to get the Asada Burrito. The steak was well seasoned and the ranchero sauce was delicious. Their rice is also well seasoned. I could only eat half of my dinner! Dinner and a margarita and my bill was less than $13. Portion was very small, covered in grease and chorizo was burned and in one big clump. This was dinner for out of town guests. Cold fajitas are not a favorite. read more

This was my first time eating here as I just moved into town and I must say what fabulous customer service! My waiter tonight was so attentive and such a nice guy. He answered all of our questions happily :) The portions here are huge! My friend ordered the chicken cream which came on two plates one plate of chicken which was on a hot plate and the other plate for the beans and rice and veggies. I ordered off the combo menu which had two tacos and beans and rice and then I ordered a chili Relleno . Being from Colorado I am used to deep-fried chili Reno so this is the closest I found :) It was an egg batter but looked to be pan fried :) The cheese cream that is so famous down here was delicious, I ordered a side of it that I put on the taco !! it's really just a white cheese dip ... so yummy!!! But like I said the most memorable thing of this restaurant is the service it is fabulous and I'll definitely be back again!!! read more

Service is quick and they are honest to let you know the time to get dishes if you are in a hurry.
