2 quesadillas

For 52 pesos you can have a decent lunch.. 4 quesadillas, pick your flavor. The chicharrón, chorizo, tinga de res and rajas poblanas are great! Pretty big size too and the tortillas are super fresh!

Don't miss the Huitlacoche quesadilla & homemade horchata!! So delicious muy rico. Seems to be THE lunch spot for anyone working nearby. Cash only. Ps in case you don't get your order in 10 mins, speak up. They might have run out of that particular item & wont tell u.

Fresh homemade quesadillas for $13 pesos each?! Sign me up. Braised pork crackling, beef tinga, creamy poblano strips, zucchini flowers, and chorizo potato are just some of the filling options available at this corner stop. The lovely ladies here work hard in the heat making corn tortillas from scratch. Sopes (open-faced versions) are available for $15 pesos each and a variety of drinks (horchata, coke, etc.). Saw lots of locals coming by to sample the food, and I can taste why. We had a meal of 3 quesadillas each with drinks for 3 ppl (9 quesadillas + 3 drinks) for under $10 USD. Tip: Try the chicharron!

Cheap little hole in the wall. Quesadillas was ok. I was a little skeptical at first but read some of the reviews and decided to go ahead and try it. It was ok. I wouldn't go back. But great overall experience.

So delicious! So cheap! 15 pesos for a quesadilla or 18 for a Sope. Highly recommended! No English, Spanish only.

McDonald's - Just Nasty!

I didn't come to Mexico to eat at McDonalds. But like any bad tourist, I am perpetually curious…read moreabout the international version of any Mickey Ds. Typically, they're good and offer something unique / regional. This one on the other hand, was not good. In fact, it was terrible. First things first, I was appalled at how filthy the place was. I was under the impression that McDonalds did its best to appeal to the masses with cheap and convenient comfort food and also keep the joint sightly. The floors had this sticky grime to it like it hadn't been mopped / deep cleaned in awhile and the air was thick with this greasy musk. To make matters worse, the ventilation must've been out because it was uncomfortably hot. But no matter, my curious group of gringos were in need of some McFood, so we ordered enough to puzzle the turistas around us. Fish filets, quarter pounders, fries galore, cheeseburgers etc, a whole gamut of the menu essentially. We ordered drinks as well, but the ice machine wasn't working. Thank goodness the sodas were chilled. What really irked me was how unfriendly the service was. I am used to inept service in the fast food arena since I live in NYC, but this was as apathetic as it could be: counter folks barely acknowledged us and to no one's surprise, got our orders and totals incorrect. This place wasn't busy, but it did seem understaffed with a ghost crew working there. The sad part is, I've been to another McDonalds in town (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mcdonalds-playa-del-carmen-2). Although very mediocre, it still was light years ahead of this one. Lastly, we didn't find anything unique about the menu. Nothing regionally interesting to us, which was virtually the only reason we came to check it out.

Horrible Horrible experience. We ordered 4 different meals off the menu. Half the order came back…read morewrong but since we didn't speak Spanish, they weren't able to figure out what we were saying so we took the order back to our seat. There was no ice available for drinks. Half the drinks were out so you were only left with a couple options to choose from. They didn't have any straws. The ketchup dispenser was empty and there wasn't anyone available to help us unless you stood in the long line to order again. By the time we sat down to eat our food and fries were all cold. I orders the Big Mac meal and the meat on it didn't even resemble meat. The picture I posted shows the quality of the meat patty. WE WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. My husband ended up getting sick that night. Not sure if it was from McDonald's but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with what he ate there.

After visiting all three El Fogón locations in Playa del Carmen, I can confidently say they're all…read morefantastic. The service is quick, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. Unfortunately this location didn't give us the cactus like the other locations did. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're looking for authentic, delicious tacos and grilled meats that won't break the bank, this is a must visit. I loved it so much that I ended up eating at all three locations and every visit was just as good as the last.

My wife and I shared the chicken fajitas, which were excellent. My friend ordered the al pastor fajitas, and his wife had the pork chops--everyone agreed the food was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and amazing, and every dish was flavorful and generously portioned. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food with excellent service and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend El Fogón. We would definitely come back!
