My wife found out about this place through a friend. We started going here when we first moved to The Baraboo area a little over a year ago. The food here is very very good. Large portions of food. Food always comes up very fast and is always hot and fresh. This establishment also has a food truck. They are well known in this area. The staff does a great job. I go here about 2-3 times a month. I have never had a problem with my orders. I dine in a lot here or I will get it to go. Prices are very reasonable. Wait staff does a great job getting you your food and beverage. Restaurants in the back of grocery stores tend to be the most authentic and delicious. It's been a hot minute since I have been to one. On my way back from the dells and I search of Mexican food, my friend and I stumbled upon Las Milpas located at the back of the Mexican store. They have a vast menu to choose from and you'll be sure to find something you are craving. We ordered chips and guacamole, street tacos and a burrito. Prices are reasonable especially given the portion sizes. The chips came with a side of salads too. It tasted like a roasted salsa or almost marinara like. The guacamole and salsa had a little bit of a warm kick. I opted for the pork burrito. It was pretty good but I wish I'd paid a little more for the carnitas. I prefer the shredded pork vs cubes. A friend suggested trying this place when we were up in the area, and I'm so glad we checked it out. The taqueria is in the back of an unassuming grocery store, but the dining space is actually really large and has a big bar. We shared a margarita and it was pretty good. The glasses they use are super bright and pretty. They brought out chips and salsa to our table and the chips were deliciously warm. The salsa was fantastic - it wasn't chunky but had so much flavor to it and clung to my tortilla chip! I ordered the pastor, carnitas, and asada tacos, and oh my were these some full tacos! No silly filler, just a bunch of meat topped with onion and cilantro. I ordered four tacos but would have been totally full with just three. The menu was pretty extensive, and they even serve breakfast. Any time I'm back in the area I'll definitely stop by. Highly recommend. Staff there was also incredibly nice. read more

Worst Mexican food restaurant in baraboo. The cashier was very rude, I asked her for no onion on my tacos, then she proceeded to argue with me saying I asked for no onion on 3 of my tacos and 1 with. How does that make sense ? The chips are stale, the salsa is gross. The horchata is pre filled in the fridge. Horrible all the sugar is stuck in the bottom. Taste like cinnamon water. The salsa was a jelly consistency. You're better off eating at McDonald's . The tables we're flimsy, place looks unorganized and dirty. read more

Tacos al pastor had delicious pork with nice big pieces of pineapple. The cup of elotes was huge! I appreciated the outdoor seating, and the grocery attached was stocked with a meat counter, all the salsas you loved with your tacos, Mexican candies, and the essentials. We got carry out and because we were so hungry, we ordered a bunch of different things to sample: tacos, tamales, and an empanada. It was all delicious. Very fresh - the tacos were showered with fresh cilantro and onions. The campechano was delicious as was the veggie taco, but the standout was the carnitas! Some of the best I've ever had! The red pork tamales were plump and tender and the pollo empanada was huge. The empanada came with a wonderful little salad and guacamole with a sprinkle of cheese. The staff was very friendly and helpful and packed everything up well. I can't wait to return. This food is worth a trip to Baraboo! read more

Awesome "REAL" Mexican store and restaurant. My husband and I ended up here on our anniversary for an impromptu dinner. First time, but certainly not the last. We have lived in both Phoenix and LA., so know real mexican food and some of the best and this is up there right along side any we have eaten in any city or state. Tamales were full of meat. My husband said it was the best Mexican rice he has ever had. I had 3 different street tacos. All good but Carne Asada best in my opinion. Elote in a cup...what can I say. Unbelievable. If you want authentic Mexican food you have to try this place. It's a tiny store/restaurant and a little off the road but so worth it!!

Their tamales are the BEST I've ever had! Had them for lunch/dinner many times, and purchased large orders of them for events.

Authentic food!!! The street tacos were awesome. Very authentic. Make sure to order them with onion and cilantro if you like those flavors. It was fun to stock up on a few things in the grocery store attached too. I introduced my boys to jelly candies and we got our dog the biggest Chicharrón Ive ever seen (she's a Great Dane so it was the perfect size for her... of course in moderation). Skip the margaritas... go into the store and grab a cold Mexican soda instead!!! read more

I was at a conference in the Dells and didn't want bland chain restaurant food. I found Las Milpas on yelp and am so glad I made the short drive over! I stocked up on a few things in their grocery store, great conchas! I ordered sopes from the restaurant and they were delivious. The chorizo was a standout! read more

First time here in this grocery grown into a restaurant. Order at the register and grab a table. Quick and friendly, good menu and great food. I had the special chicken mole with rice and refried beans- amazing mole! Chocolate brown with melt in your mouth chicken. Good selection of sodas. No frills but a great place to grab a burrito. Traveling north on 94 and saw the 5 star rating so went ahead took the detour. Worth every minute it added! It was about 10:30 so two of us got breakfast items, two got lunch. My chorizo burrito was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Can't recommend enough. Staff very nice, also. read more

Great experience, convenient location and friendly staff. The menu gives everyone who orders a large selection to choose from. An important thing to remember is the market is in front part of the building and the dining is in the back.
